Shoes had leather soles, unlike today's shoes. The heel and toe taps helped the leather at those points last longer.

I always liked the wooden Velveeta cheese boxes. All my treasures were put in them, and a couple of wooden cigar boxes. Those were always great to have around the house for things, dad used them in the garage at the workbench for parts. We didn't throw away the packaging back them,,,, we could always use it.

I dreamed about specific things I remember from way back when and I told myself I was going to remember them to post. The memory escapes me. I do remember when not one wore seat belts or had car seats.

I still have a couple of wooden cheese boxes from my aunt (who was born in 1894). I use them in my kitchen gadget drawer. I see the wooden cigar boxes show up at auctions every now and then, too. Those old boxes had many uses.

I remember when it was easy to open almost anything you bought at a 5 and dime store. There was none of this stiff, hard plastic and/or cardboard packaging that takes a heavy duty pair of scissors to pry open. (I get very frustrated at times trying to open something.)
