I'm so old I remember walking to town to buy shotgun shells with my shotgun over my shoulder and no one gave me a second look..And when shots were heard on the outskirts of town it was just another kid bagging a squirrel for lunch or supper.

I remember back in the late 50s and early 60s when there used to be an Army Nike Missle site near where I used to live. It's a housing development now.

Sputnik. Even had a plastic sputnik that you filled with ice cream then fit into a soft drink bottle. An instant "float". Wish I'd kept it, it was so unique.

Mmmm, no, that wouldn't work. See, one of the Sputnik "spikes" fit into the bottle and you drank the ice-cream soda through the opposite spike. As you tilted the bottle the soda poured through the filled Sputnik.

It was a clever tool.
