I am so old I remember:

Cable (the jerrold box with the wire).

When Central VA got heavy snow

When driving from Orlando International Airport to Walt Disney World there was NOTHING but farm land (maybe a home or two) in between the airport & Disney World

When I could play in the pool for hours while on vacation in Florida and not get a lick of a burn.

When River Country (Disney water park) existed

Listening to mother play her 8 tracks (LIPPS funky town)

Going to peaches "record store" to get the "new" Madonna record

TV sets were as big (and looked like) a 3 drawer dresser (without the drawers), it was that big and took about 3 men to move it.

Answering Machines were the size of three labtops stacked on each other

VCR's were double the size of Answering Machines

Michaels Arts and Crafts did not exist, it was M.J. Designs then

Art Explosion, that store was all the rave in my day

Sitcoms lasted MORE than 5 years.

Trapper-Kepper notebooks (the old ones)

Every girl wanted a cabbage patch kid doll (mother stood in line for hours for that thing)

Commodore 64 computers

Intelevision (the thing after Pong)

Okay that is all that I can think of at the moment BUT I am sure that I will think of more later, GREAT topic!

When I was younger, in our state, it was four-sixty during the day, but if you turned it on after dark, it was four-fifty. Loved how those signs changed. I had a friend whose family had a station wagon with the deluxe model - FIVE-sixty.

I remember when the gas cap area was often in the very back bumber area of the car UNDER the license plate.

I remember when there was never self-serve at gas stations. The gas station attendant would rush out when you got there, begin filling the car with gas and while waiting for that would check your oil level and clean all of your windows. I remember my father saying "fill er up with Ethyl."

I remember when all soda came in bottles, no cans.

I remember not only the ice cream man in his truck coming by but the Healms bakery truck loaded with wonderful doughnuts. The smell when he opened the back of that vehicle was intoxicating!

I remmeber when there were no dog licenses, no leash laws and dogs ran free everywhere. Unfortunately dogs routinely bred and there were always litters of mutts people were trying to give away. They were called mutts then...not designer dogs lol.
