I only saw it once or twice on a neighbor's tv because we didn't have a set of our own until 1956. I became a great fan of Sky King, RinTinTin and Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. Wow, talk about adventure.
I was in heaven when the Mickey Mouse Club came on! I knew every song, dance and cast member (Wasn't Cubby the cutest?!!) and wore my ears for at least 2 years. Then, puberty hit!!!
And, you are so right, LIEddie. It was a peaceful, happy time to be growing up. Today's children are not living in a very nice world. I pray for a better to come soon.
That one show(series) they had on the Mickey Mouse Club....."Pieces of eight". Or was that another show?
It was about a hidden chest full of gold coins.
Oh Mr. Pastry! Mr. Pastry! Yes, I do... you know, I probably haven't thought about Mr. Pastry since it was last on TV!
I also remember all the Watch with Mother shows on the BBC, aimed at the little kids. They ran for 15 minutes at 2pm. 'Picture Book' on Monday, 'Andy Pandy' on Tuesday, 'Bill and Ben' on Wednesday, 'Rag, Tag & Bobtail' on Thursday, and 'The Woodentops' on Friday.
I remember the Pillsbury Doughboy and Common Sense!!
