I'm so old (and thankful)
I remember Johnny the baker man, he came to Meme's house once a week to fill her bread and eggs order. He also had doughnuts and so many goodies. We the grandchildren rushed out to his truck like the children today scramble for the ice cream truck.
The men folk were always watching;
The Rifleman, Gunsmoke, All John Wayne movies. We kids watched Romper room, Mickey Mouse Club, Popeye the Sailor man, and Bozo the Clown. Good ol Captain Kangaroo.
I still watch and enjoy many of the older programs, and every time I watch Lawerence Welk on PBS, besides enjoying it I reflect back to the days when my grandfather would dance the Polka with his grandchildren. Yes while LW was on TV and also weddings we attended.
When I walked to school, I stoped at Gus's Varitey store and bought penny candy with the three cents mom gave me for milk money.
When the grownups had something important to talk about or if anger was going to be expressed, the children were told to go into another room or outdoors to play. We never heard bad language or saw anger. We played with balsa wood planes and flying kites. Spent loads of time playing outdoors and the parents almost had to drag us in for meals. We could always tell when it was dinner time in the neighborhood. Moms would yell out their childrens names, because they'd be at a friends house playing out doors.
I'm glad I'm as old as I am. It was a great time in my life

I remember buying a stick of gum for .01c and if it was a certain flavor you would get a 5 pk free. Was real lucky and had a lot of 5 pks. Also gum with trading cards of airplane pilots of the day, mainly from WW1, Lindburgh and the Barnstormers. and those who flew race planes cross country at that time period. Gas stations that gave free dishs and glassware with each purchase. Jars that jam came in later used as water drinking glasses. Real heavy and did not break easily. Stefhen

Remember the days when the flavor of a stick of gum lasted a long time?
Remember when the dairy came to your house and left milk and how thick and good that chocolate milk was? You can't get stuff like that anymore!
Casseroles were big for housewives to make.
I remember granny dresses and disco boots and hats.
I remember when for a short time station wagons had seats that faced out the BACK of the car. It was a wonderful recipe for 3 kids throwing up in the car everytime you went for a drive!
Speaking of station wagons, remember the Woody, the waogon with the wood on the sides the surfers liked?
I remember we had an aqua Ford Fairlane growing up.

Well, sure! I'm wearing mine right now.
I also remember when sponges were made from real sponges. Y'know - from the ocean or someplace.

Remember the woodies-yes my grandmother had one at our summer house-no back window-a striped piece of canvas on a metal bar sufficed - up on nice days, down in rain. She drove that into her 80's. It was her "beach buggy."

The movie "THE OUTLAW" starring Jane Russell (low cut blouse) doing the THING in the hay (western movie) was a good flick. Does any one remember who produced (financed) it?. Initials were H. H. Billionaire. I saw it when it came to the local screen, must be around 1943-45, not quite sure. Getting a little senile. Stefhen
