I remember the TV soap opera, "Peyton Place". It was based on a book of the same name that was pretty scandalous, for its time, (Middle 1950's) This was also the TV show that gave Ryan O'Neill and Mia Farrow their start in show business.

they were the source of one of those embarassing stories that parents love to tell about things their kids did when they were little.

i grew up in new mexico and had been eating piñon nuts practically since i had teeth, they were my favorite treat. well, our family went on a trip to san diego when i was about four and my dad bought me one of those little boxes of mexican jumping beans.
at some point he comes into the room after leaving me alone with them, and i tell him 'daddy, these piñons are fulla worms!'
i had cracked all of them open with my teeth, you see
