I remember being able to pull a key from a car's ignition while it was running. Then you could use the key to open the glove box or trunk. (no trunk releases)

I had a piece-of-sh** van that had all kinds of problems and one of them was that I could pull the keys out of the ignition while driving the car lol.
I remember that. I was kind of surprised/impressed when I saw my father pull the key out of the ignition, car still running,so my uncle could drive it home. When we got there and he turned the car off, nobody could start it again without a key.
I remember making cars and trucks "backfire" by turning off the ignition, waiting a few seconds, then turning the ignition back on - not to be done with a locking steering wheel. A friend of mine blew the exhaust system off his mother's car doing this.

Used to do that also with big trucks, scared the pee outta the vehicle drivers and pedestrians around us.
I remember soft drinks used to come exclusively in paper cups with the wax coating. You then smashed them, and rubbed them on the metal slide in the playground and that smoothed out the ride and made you go faster.

And the straws were paper - they would collapse if you didn't drink very fast.
