I'm so old I remember
driving down highways and reading the Burma Shave signs.
the introduction of deodorant (Ban - takes the worry out of being close).
the Brooklyn Dodgers!
one episode of a TV show "You Asked For It!" where they presented a computer (UNIVAC) to match a man from the audience with a woman. The UNIVAC was five large units, each about the size of a modern day refrigerator.

Try this from the internet.
Close your eyes... And go back.
Before the Internet or the ATM
Before semi automatics and weed
Before playstation2 or X-bOX
Before the 5 hours of homework you put off every night...
Way back...
I'm talkin' bout hide and go seek at dusk.
Red light, Green light.
Playing kickball & dodgeball until your porch light came on.
Mother May I?
Red Rover
Four Square
Hula Hoops
Running through the sprinkler
Happy Meals
Getting the privelage to sit in the front seat of the car
Wait...
Watchin' Saturday Morning cartoons
Like Hey Arnold and Doug
The old Mario & Luigi
TGIF
Or what about legends of the hidden temple,
Global guts, double dare,
and, ARE YOU AFFRAID OF THE DARK!
Who could forget Snick
Or the teenage mutant ninja turtles, and Power Rangers,
Christmas morning...
Your first day of school
Bedtime Prayers and Goodnight Kisses
Climbing trees
Getting an ice cream off the ice cream truck
A million mosquito bites and sticky fingers
Jumpin' down the steps
Jumpin' on the bed
Pillow fights
Runnin' till you were out of breath
Laughing so hard that your stomach hurt and you almost peed your pants
Being tired from playin' all day
Your first crush...
Rainy days at school meant playing "Heads up 7-Up" in the classroom
Remember that?
I'm not finished yet...
Kool-Aid was the drink of the summer
Giving your friends a ride on your handlebars or spokes
Wearing your new shoes on the first day of school
Class Field Trips
When nearly everyone's mom was at home when the kids got there.
When getting high was swinging on the swingset
When $5 seemed like a million, and another dollar a Miracle.
When your parents took you to McDonalds and you were so cool.
When Toys r Us overuled the "mall"
I want to go back to the time when...
Decisions were made by going "eeny-meeny-miney-moe"
Mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming, "do over!"
"Race issue" meant arguing about who ran the fastest.
Money issues were handled by whoever was the banker in "Monopoly"
Catching fireflies could happily occupy an entire evening
It wasn't odd to have two or three "best" friends.
Being old, referred to anyone over 20.
The worst thing you could catch from the opposite sex was cooties.
Nobody was prettier than Mom
Nobody was cooler than Dad
Scrapes and bruises were kissed and made better
It was a big deal to finally be tall enough to ride the "big people" rides at the amusement park.
Abilities were discovered because of a "double dare"
Spinning around, getting dizzy and falling down was cause for giggles.
If you can remember most or all of these, then you have LIVED!!!
Take a break from your "grown up" lives.

That was a postimus maximus, motormaker!
I remember an arcade game called pop-up. It was basically tic-tac-toe with rubber balls enclosed in a machine with a glass top. The prize if you won? A pack of cigs! (premium brands, only) What a perfect game for the 15 year-old me! I got pretty good at it, but *can't remember* if there were any actual skills involved.

Do you remember the red stuff the Raleigh man sold that was for upset stomach.
It smelled real good but burned all the way down, it took your breath.
Taking cod liver oil for everything! Never stayed out of school or complained of feeling bad at my Grandmothers, out would come the cod liver oil.

In addition to the S & H Green Stamps, we had Top Value Stamps. Had to be careful to make sure we were sticking them in the correct book. My Mom still has the card table and chairs we got with the TV stamps.
How about Dream Whip? I know it is still around, but who wants to whip up your own topping when you can buy it now already done in the tub?

I am so old, I can remember the lyrics to the theme song of a show I watched as a kid, but can't remember the name of the show, it's premise, or who starred in it. Can anyone help?
It's about time,
It's about space,
It's about two men in the strangest place.......
Now there's a theme song that would have a whole different premise for the show today.........

I received a Power Point presentation from a friend titled Looking Back. It would be difficult to copy to CD, so I found a link that has it in text format. I thought it was pretty good. Enjoy.

MICoastieMom: Rub those ruby slippers together because the answer has been right in front of you all along! The show was called "It's About Time"!
It's About Time (TV series) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I remember that theme song too - well bits of it anyway.
Neat little blog, motormaker, but I can't find the Looking Back part.
