I have to say this is one thing that I do that drives Mr Karla crazy
As you all know I am a "selective" eater so if it is not right it goes back. I can't stand pickles so when I ask "no pickles please" that doesn't mean "opps I will just take it off the plate" the pickle juice has contaminated the fires and usually the roll.
ncn omg whats with the DQ folks I have also had a couple folks that have suggested "just scrape it off"
once again we are talking "contaminated"
Being selective means there are only about 4 or 5 places that I will eat so when I find a server that "gets it right" I not only will ask for them but will wait for a table in their section rofl opps thats another thing that annoys hubby
Now before you all think "yikes I would not want to have to wait on her"
Realizing that I am a PITA i tip 25 to 30 %

We don't eat out much, but I have sent food back. You ask the server if the dish has meat in it and they say "no" then it comes with bacon bits or something else. I'm a vegetarian and I get really sick if I unknowingly eat meat or something that is cooked with it.
I went to one restaraunt explained to the server that I was a vegetarian and asked if they had any meals without meat ... "well we have chicken and fish" was the reply! OK!
Karla, I was a waitress when I was a student. Our policy was new plate and new food. Never know if the person might be allergic to the pickles!

I have done it at the past, now the restaurants are very competitive,I usually go to one that is crowded, espcially Chinese ones,if you see a Chinese restaurant that is noisy and crowded then it's great! especially here.
Yikes! Mike, I have been to a hole in a wall place with cockroaches, don't they have the ABC systems there? There is usually a big sign next to the door
If it's a C then I would not go in. You are entering on your own risk!

I've sent food back once or twice - can't remember why! But, seeing the specials on tv where the staff will spit in your food if you send it back, I'm not so sure I'd do it any more. Ick! When the ex and I used to go out to eat, we usually went to the nicer places in town (not that there were a lot there!) and got to know the staff, so we usually made sure we got somebody we liked.
Mike, that cockroach story reminds me of the time my mom, sister and her friend went to a local Chinese restaurant for lunch. I was just about finished eating when I noticed something on my shoulder. At first, I thought it was my hair (it was about the same color!) but then I realized my hair wasn't long enought to sit on my shoulder. I turned, to see that a cockroach had dropped out of the ceiling onto me! Not wanting to make a scene, I brushed it onto the floor, then stepped on it. Well, the thing cracked so loudly, everybody in the place heard it! My sister couldn't decide whether to throw up or laugh. Luckily, she went into laughing spasms. That year, for Christmas, my whole family got together and made a video tape of their singing re-written Christmas Carols: "Roaches roasting on an open fire..." "Pattie got run over by a cockroach.." You get the idea. It was hysterical!
Thanks for the memory boost!
Enjoy the day, all.
PS - won't be eating any choc. covered raisins. I like raisins and I like chocolate, but not together.

I'm picky about my eggs. Scrambled soft, easy, light, fluffy, no brown please. If I don't see the waitress writing frantically on her little pad, the odds are good I'm going to be returning brown eggs.

I'm not sure if we do or not, I'll have to check. But I know inspectors do issue violations if they find any problems, and they will force restaurants to close down until the problems are corrected.

I am told I am too agreeable, I never return food, even if unhappy. I just won't eat it. My hubby on the other hand, gets very irate when he gets bad service, badly cooked food etc. I should probably be more outspoken, hugh?!
I will celebrate this National Family Day with fervor! Now it's Family Game Night!!

If it's undercooked, we usually will return it, but if it's overcooked, we generally just don't eat it, but we let the wait staff know, and they have always taken it off the bill.
And, for restaurants that we go to frequently, we do ask for particular servers.

You have to be careful with sending food back because cooks or servers do get offended if you tell them something is wrong with the food.
A friend of mine worked at a Red Lobster about 20 years ago, and she told me about this one incident, where she had a customer that sent the food back 2 or 3 times, and the employees got upset at him. The last time she took the food back, she dropped the plate on the floor. They were very busy and they didn't want to waste any more time with this guy, I forget exactly what they did, but they picked up the food, put it in a new plate, and she took it to the table. Believe it or not he didn't send it back after that!

Good morning
No I have never sent food back and I have received some pretty miserable meals since moving to Tn. Pretty much if your like me and you like your steak medium rare, you need to start liking well done. If you want your appetizer before your meal, get over it and if you want 2 creamers with your coffee you need to get up and try to find it yourself because it might be 15 minutes before your waiter or waitress finds their way back to your table.
