Todays question Monday 3-24-08
Good morning everyone
I hope you have all recovered from the plethora of candy and good food from yesterday
We had an interesting discussion yesterday at breakfast which I thought would work well for
Todays question:
Do you ever send food back at a restaurant?
Extra credit: If you find a server that you really like at a restaurant you frequent, will you ask for them ?
Today in history:
March 24, 1898 1st automobile sold
March 24, 1958 - Elvis Presley reported to local draft board 86 in Memphis, TN. He became US 53310761. Each year that Private Presley was in the Army, Uncle Sam stood to lose an estimated $500,000 in lost taxes that Elvis would of paid on his earnings.
Word of the day:
plethora \PLETH-uh-ruh\, noun:
Excess; superabundance.
Today is :
National Family Day
and
National Chocolate Covered Raisins day
It is also
National egg salad week (24th - 30th) gotta do something with all those left over eggs

The only time I send food back is when it is undercooked. I have had a few burgers that were still mooing... I don't mind a little pink, but dripping blood is just gross!!
We don't really frequent any establishment enough to ask for the same server.
My husband and I eat a boiled egg pretty much everyday after our workouts, so our leftovers will be gone in no time... egg salad and deviled eggs are yummy though!

I've sent wine back, but never food.
The time we sent the wine back, the waiter agreed with us and replaced it.
There have been a couple times when I *should* have sent back the food, but
1)we had plans for afterwards and it would have messed up our schedule.
2) It wasn't inedible or anything like that
We have definitely requested certain servers, sometimes because they were recommended, other times because we already knew and liked them.

I do the send back thing only for undercooked food too. If the food is too bad, I just don't go back. If the server is not good, I don't go back either. There was a steak place in Monroe where the waitress spent the entire meal being rude to me and trying to flirt with my dh. We don't go there anymore.
Dh just reminded me that I send back food at fast food places all the time. I am really fussy with what I have on my hamburger. I eat meat and vegetables only and a lot of times they will habitually put mustard, ketchup, etc. on the sandwich. I don't like mustard, ketchup or mayonnaise or the special sauce some places have.
I have learned exactly how to order my small hamburger at McDonald's. I order hamburger with pickles only and extra pickles. If you order a hamburger with pickles only, sometimes they put only one pickle slice on it.
The only place I have ever had any problem is when we were traveling once and the employee at a DQ took a knife and scraped the condiments off and handed it back to me. So I took the sandwich with that person looking and threw it in the trash. I REALLY don't like mustard, ketchup, or in that case it was mayonnaise. Dairy Queen went off my list of places to eat. I have ordered ice cream from them, but never again have I ordered food at Dairy Queen. I was extremely hungry that day and ended up with french fries only to eat and cheese crackers in the car later. We were someplace between here and Denver and didn't have the time to go anywhere else.

Ive probably sent something back once or twice but most likely because it wasnt cooked all the way. There are more times where Ive ordered something and they give me the wrong order.

I've sent wine back on more than one occasion. However, if it is a good, or good enough restaurant, they allow tasting and do expect some rejections.
I've sent food back on more than one occasion, too, and for various reasons: served the wrong food; didn't cook it to specifications and looked like gruel.
If I frequent a restaurant, and there have been some I went to often enough, yes, I would request a table with a particular server or if seating is open, find my way to that server's area.

I'm not picky about food, so I don't think I ever sent food back at restaurants. I only remember one time we were looking at the menu at a Mexican restaurant, and I saw a cockroach scurry across the table about 10 feet away from us. When I saw that, I set the menu down, and we left the place. I can't remember if I told the waiteress about the uninvited "diner", but we never went back there again. I also know the place didn't stick around too long.
AksarbeN, the place was called La Familia's, it was on 33rd Ave & Indian School Rd.
