Some people mentioned shredding stuff they get in the mail, I do that also. I also know 3 years ago, I bought a shredder, which at the time I thought it would suffice. It seems like these companies that send you junk mail know when you get a shredder, so you start getting more junk mail! I used to empty the bucket in the shredder about once every 3 weeks or so, and it was a small bucket. But it didn't take too long before I started emptying it about once or twice a week!
I bought a brand new and bigger shredder last year, with a bigger bucket and now I empty it about once every 3 weeks, and I hope I never have to get another one, with a bigger bucket!
Also, if they want to save "trees", tree-huggers should force marketing companies to stop sending those supermarket and store flyers. If you don't want them, then you should not get them! I used to get those once a week, now I get them about 4 times a week! I asked the postal service if they can just not put that garbage in my mailbox, and they said they can't, because they are obligated by the company that pays the USPS, to deliver them to every postal customer! Everyone of those darn things end up in my recycle trash bin, but figure the amount of resources that are being wasted to recycle this garbage! I'm sure it'll add up to a lot!

My son gets the mail on his way home from the bus stop. I signed up to get a lot of the junk mail stopped. Over the last few months it has dwindled. Anything with my name on it gets shredded. Ripping up a credit card application isn't enough these days. Tape the sucker up fill out the information and they will still process it!! AMAZING!

We use their own SASE to return their paperwork with a request to remove us from their list. It worked for me.

I can’t get the Post Office to stop delivery of junk 3rd class mail. Yeah I checked and ask them but they said that the marketing companies pay a good part of the post office income each year and thus the letter carriers will continue to bring it to each home.
I hate the credit card applicants also but I got it stopped with getting off the mass marketing lists. Someone should invent a shedder mailbox that can take care of the issue.

I hear ya Aksarben.
I had to call a few offenders last year to tell them to take my name off the list, but there were a couple that I called last year told me they don't keep the list of addresses, and they have no control over what gets sent and to who! The only reason they had the telephone numbers on the junk mail was to enroll callers in whatever they were marketing, one I remember was an insurance company.

We live in a very rural area and our mailbox is up a will a ways from our house. We do generally get the mail everyday. The main reason I do is we have had 2-3 occassions over the years where we had someone stealing people's mail.

Do you get your mail out of the mailbox every day ?
Extra credit: If you are like my one neighbor who actually waits for the mail carrier.
Today in history:
March 25, 421 City of Venice founded
March 25, 1882 1st demonstration of pancake making (Department store in New York City) So shouldn't it be National pancake day
Word of the day:
repine \rih-PINE\, intransitive verb:
1. To feel or express discontent.
2. To long for something.
Today is :
National Waffle Day
It is also
National Sleep Day- aha so thats why I slept till 6:30

I get mine out of my box. But, sometimes I wait for him to come because the mail does not get here until about 6:30 PM.

We have a post office box about 1/2 mile from where we live. My dh's daily exercise is to walk there and back each day. We get the mail most days, but it is nice to have it safe the days we miss and when we are out of town. When our box gets full the mail person just collects it in a box for us and we have to go to the window to collect it.

I pay 99 percent of my bills online, so I don't get them in the mail anymore, But I guess the US Postal Service has to stay busy, so they deliver junk mail, and advertising flyers everyday now! 99 percent of the stuff I get from the US postal service is junk mail, like credit card, and mortgage offers.
Here's a question.. what do we call the stuff women get in the mail? FeMail ?

Hey Izzy, you need to send Mike to his room!
