This has been in my mind lately. Why do people call my friend G? They tell him what's up G, or later G, strangers and friends. But the thing is he is not a gangster, and does not look like one. He has been called G too many times in front of me. I think is means something more than gangster or gentleman, but I am not sure, am I right?

It's often used when talking to someone you don't know.

I did google and found this too. But in this case even his own friends call him G. Strangers have called him G, so I am confused, because he looks nothing like a gangster no tattoos. Not saying you have to look like a gangster to be a G. I just wonder if it means something else?

And lol@ Aksarben

maybe his name is too hard to say.

or the same as his father's or cousin's so he was called that as a child and it stuck. Maybe became his preference.

You could ask him. If he's your friend, he'll tell you.
