Matches and a candle! We live in a scary part of the country and really need to be able to see those weird things out there. right AskarbeN?

I’d go for a flashlight and gun. Maybe have Magnum Mike live nearby would be comforting.

Ok, so how about a flashlight and Magnum Mike!?
One of those flashlights you crank, that doesn't need batteries.

I usually keep a case of bottled water, saltine crackers and a blanket in the toolbox in my truck. You never know.
But on the lighter side, I keep saline solution and/or Refresh (for my contacts) and last of all, my tubes of lipstick. Never leave home without it. In my console, my purse, one in my day planner, another in my locker at work, one in my vest pocket. Gotta have it!

I try to always have a knife around. But I've lost my favorite knife that I won awhile back - a Benchmade pocket knife. Sharpest thing I've ever owned. Also a lighter.

My pocket day planner.
Also in winter we have a survival kit in the car-blankets, candles, matches, batteries, chocolate, hand and foot warmers, flashlight, cell phone charger.

Mostly what I do need a around is my phone. Just in case of something, you know.
But let me add some more, please:
1. Some money (because you never know).
2. My purse (has my I.D., license, cards, phone numbers, etc.).
3. Flashlight (on thunderstorm days when the power goes out).
