I need to go take a ride on the Parkway for you. Wish I could! Wish I could!
Sometimes it is tough being retired and dh isn't. The really horrible thing is that he does his share of work around the house even after working over 60 hours this week. I think I married a workaholic.

Started the morning with coffee, then went to the outreach and did some organizing. Came home and planted some seeds in peat pots, chatted with a neighbor and then made dinner and jumped on the computer for a bit. Added a few entries in my cookbook and now am jumping off to watch a movie or two and then bed.

Do any of you remembory (my word, again ) the tv sitcom 'Sanford & Son'? If you don't, briefly it was about a father and son and their turmoils and it basically centered around the dad's junk yard where one could probably find just about any sought after and needed (?) item from a small partially useful tool to some large creation no longer in the running because of advancements in technology. .
I spent a few hours in my husband's rendition of that once popular and historical setting. sorting through stuff from ..to things that even small critters would run away from... A brave young man, a nephew, ventured to this site with us and like a kid in a candy store wandered around the most interesting part of this 7 acre 'gold mine' with us and excitedly pointed to first this pile of unused and neglected aluminum parts to the once proud '60ish Chevy truck. We settled on a % of $'s for this adventurous lad to reward us with after he and a friend haul off these valuables and sell to a junk yard. Hmmmmm, there really are others besides ours?
Anyway, that is how we spent a greater part of today. Will return in the days to come to assist in this undertaking...Ewwww, not liking that word. Change to 'discovery'. See y'all later.

Got to the eye doctor with Mrs. she can still see that I’m the best thing she ever got a hold of yet. LOL,,,, then off to the health food store and lunch. Checked the drug store and then grocery store and back home. Oh,,,,, did stop and get a fill up on gas (Monday I’d take a loan out on the house to pay for it).

I have never used anything but a car. I am afraid I might run into a bear, skunk, wild cat or panther. LOL Actually a bicycle sounds like fun. There are wild animals in the mountains though. I was born about five miles East of the Northwest Trading Post on Old NC 16 Highway. I remember when it was built. It was the talk of the neighborhood that the mountain women would be able to sell their homemade items there.
My favorite part of the Parkway is from Boone to the Virginia border. Probably because there is a Gap and old homestead named after my family and my families cemetery. It is between Glendale Springs and Doughton Park. My favorite place to eat is the Bluffs Coffee Shop and my favorite food there: Ham biscuits. I once ordered a plate of potatoes and tomatoes and it came with the potatoes in three sections and the tomatoes separating it. That was good too. There is a waitress that has worked there for about 50 years. She is priceless.
