Todays question Tuesday 5-20-08
Good morning everyone
You know I had to chuckle yesterday when I was running late with the "? 0' the day"
What ever are you all going to do when I am in Charleston for the wedding from May 29th to June 1st
Ok so the inspiration for todays ? came from yesterdays thread
ok I will wait a second while you all go back to see if you can find the post
la la la la la la la
ok done looking??
tee hee I was tempted to just post the thread to this point and then come back in an hour to ad the ?, but I didn't want to be "sent to my room"
If your ready please proceed to
Todays question:
How many "projects in waiting" do you have around your home ?
Extra credit for those projects that were started a loooong time ago and still aren't finished
Quintuple credit for any "do it yourself " projects that you will end up having to pay someone to finish
Today in history:
May 20, 1892 George Sampson patents clothes dryer
May 20, 1899 - Jacob German of New York City became the first driver to be arrested for speeding. Mr. German was whipping his taxicab all over Lexington Avenue going over the posted 12 mile-per-hour speed limit!
May 20,1939 - The "Yankee Clipper" took off from Port Washington, NY, bound for Europe. The plane, the flagship of Pan American Airways, established the first regular air-passenger service across the Atlantic Ocean.
Word of the day:
friable \FRY-uh-buhl\, adjective:
Easily crumbled, pulverized, or reduced to powder.
Today is:
National Pick Strawberries Day
and
National Quiche Lorraine Day
it is also
National Flower Day

Good morning Karla!
Wow, I've never been the first to answer the ? o' the day!
We have only one project in waiting, well, maybe two.
One is our small hallway which leads into the nursery and our bedroom. It must be renovated and I hope this will be done in the next couple of weeks.
Then there's our roof where we have our bedroom. It's very steep so you cannot really call it a room. But it's very romantic and small and sweet. I'd like to change the roof a bit and that's a bigger task and not planned for the next 5 years b/c we would need to get approvals from an architect etc.
However, both are projects we will definitely do on our own. We built our house on our and only needed a company for the plumbing and one who planned and installed the kitchen.
Have a great day all!

Good morning Karla and all-Well DH is currently working on a project he's had plans for for 35 years. It's a clock with all wood gears and keeping him busy.
Really no projects around the house waiting.
Miguel's Mom-Now that's a project, building your own home.

holy cow.....SO many projects....
The living room was painted 3 years ago, and the crown molding along one wall still hasn't been painted the bright white, it's still that dover white color--noticeable, but not yelling at you. I didn't like my dark kitchen cabinets, so I painted them white. They came out great, but could really use a second coat of paint (three coats of primer went on first!). The kitchen is taped off to be repainted right now I painted the dining room this winter and need to just touch up along the chair rail--it's not horribly noticeable but if you're looking it's there! We had a huge planter built out front two years ago that we've barely added anything to, so we need to work on that. The garage is screaming to be cleaned out, and I have items that I've set aside for the last 4 years for a yard sale that I've GOT to have! On top of all that is the stuff I still *want* to do in the 32 year old house that when push comes to shove, just isn't really my style of house to start with!
ok, after reading that I'm wondering if I always have a problem following through......hmmmm

Oh, Karla, there's not enough room on 1 thread for me to list them all. We currently have one kitchen sink and 2 bathroom sinks in the garage, plus all the hardware, that DH bought the first month he came down, which was last August. He promises me he will get the kitchen sink done while I'm gone. We have to fill all the holes in the walls from where we took down the curtain hardware and then paint the walls. We need new guts for the 2 toilets, maybe 2 new toilets. I'd like to replace the shower door and remove the one on the guest bathroom. New carpeting in the bedroom and lanai and new flooring in the bathrooms (these are not on the "official" list). On my own list to do, I need to clean the outside patio and rake the back yard (it has to get a little cooler and less humid for me to get into that - probably early next week). I also have a cute crochet project I started when I moved here 10 months ago, and another baby afghan I just started yesterday.
I think that's about it. Do I win??
Uh oh, after reading molly's list, I have to add painting the kitchen cabinets and planting some stuff in our front garden. Thanks for the reminder, molly!

Well.........there's the bath I'm building in the basement. Since last Aug. The garage that's about 1/2 cleaned, March 08. I have 5 tool boxes, 1 for the racecar, 1 for working on family cars, i for doing things around the house, 1 with plumbing tools and 1 with electrical tools. All the tools are the wrong place. I have been sorting them for months. I have never seen anything that did not get better with age.
I'm glad MM told us about having to sleep on a steep roof. I'll show that to my wife the next time she's downstairs and complains about having to go potty in a room with 2 unfinished walls.

Hmmm, how many projects do I have. I have a few, namely cleaning up my truck. Detailing, vacuuming, things I just cant seem to make the time for. I would pay someone to do it but....
Another project is getting out to Az to get the rest of my stuff thats being stored out there and bring it here (to store). This way it'll all only be in 2 places instead of 3. But thats due to the need for a couple of days off in a row, rather than just making it a one day turnaround (though Ive done those, to go pick up someone and bring them back).
Strawberries, yummy!!

I need to get things done with the cars. Clean them and do a little maintence work. Strawberries are great, but the only "picking" we do in Nebraska is picking them up from the grocery store.

Actually, not too many. We had to finish most of the projects in order to get our house on the market. So now, it's to go through mounds of paperwork stuffed into bins in the garage, and get rid of stuff, put the rest into labeled folders. I need to replace lightbulbs on two outdoor under-eave lights, the ones with the tiny screws that always seem to jump out of my fingers and hide in the grass, with the light bulbs you cannot touch with your fingers and that refuse to come out of their sockets. Ugh.
Yummm. I love strawberries!

Well, let's send this thread to cynwldkat on the what's for dinner tonight? thread on the Food and Drinks Forum -- here's the menu, and flowers for the table, to boot.
Projects? Oh, my! I enjoy sewing for my home -- would you care to guess how much of THAT has gotten done since I stumbled onto this place?
I mean, my daughter comes home from college to visit, and sits across from us, on the couch, while we *click click click* away in our respective wing backs, largely *ignored* and reduced to eating frozen TV dinners, still frozen, and you want to know what projects there are around here, as yet undone?
Surely, you jest. Karla Withakay, that doesn't even warrant getting sent to your room. Besides you'd crawl out the window and go play with Mike in his. Some punishment.
