Is the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand on YouTube too? Dang!
I see commercials and other advertisements saying things like "serving the community since 1972" and think, well heck that's not that long! But to my son, it's back way before he was born-borderline ancient! And it sure seems like they're playing newer and newer songs on the oldies stations!

The new generation ~ how powerful they are!
Friday my wife and I were invited to a high school graduation, there were 450 kids at the ceremony, the most kids I’ve seen together in a long time. The mother of a graduate invited my wife and I to come because she was so very proud of her son who received Summa *** Laude and National Honors Society recognition, also he received two full four-year scholarships from ASU and MIT in aerospace engineering and he was the class valedictorian. This would make any parent proud of their child. And to understand more of the difficulties in the family unit was even more impressive. It was uplifting to know how well Ruben had done in school when his only parent at home was his mother who worked several jobs to make enough money to provide the bare services for the family of 3 kids and herself.
I was humbled with such powerful positive actions of both mother and son. The struggle for each of them and the rewards that were so important in their lives came together on Friday; and my wife and I were a part of the celebrations. How wonderful for them!
And we were also impressed with the 449 other kids who graduated that day. Their bright smiling faces and the burning to go on in life and make something better of this country, something better of this world then what my generation has left for them. For that I am sorry, but seeing them all together made me feel that this place is in better hands and I was proud of all the kids.
And for all of this I felt old.

aksarben, I kept waiting for the punch line, like maybe you dropped your program or something and couldn't bend over and pick it up, and some graduate said, "here old man, let me get that for you."
Now, THAT would make you feel old.

Aksarben, that was a great post and a good tribute to youngsters today who are so bright and have their eye on bettering their education in hopes of bettering this country..Too many times people group all the kids into an unfavorable category, which is unfair..

I felt old a couple of years ago when the radio stations started saying lets "Flash Back" to the 80s. I was born in 1980 and I don't think it was so long ago that we have to "Flash Back"

Yes, it physically hurts when John Mellancamp is on the oldies channel, and Collective Soul is played as 'classic rock'. Ouch.

I started feeling old when I was 26 and the kid behind the counter at Burger King called me "ma'am" and I turned around to see who he was talking to. I was the only one in line! Ouch!

Oh, sure, rub it in our faces... born in 1980. GO TO YOUR ROOM!!!
Has anyone born in 1980 had a real live sewing machine in their house?
Most of you will remember when our mom's had a sewing machine. I remember my mom MAKING my pirate costume for Holloween. She even used coffee grounds to make hair on my chest.

I have my Grandmother's sewing machine. Well, the cabinet part with a modern, hahahahah(40 yr. old) machine fitted in it...I used it very often years ago. Maternity clothes, drapes, curtains, children's clothes, etc. Not sure I even know how to use it any more.
