i am the patient who jokes around with the docs and nurses. i can be in horrific pain or bleeding and we are clowning around. it takes the edge off....
i was in labor and we were having a conversation...i am very sarcastic
the only thing i cant stand is the dentist--all my good humor is left at the door...

I don't like to eat asparagus, so I made my tiara out of asparagus. It's quite floppy.
I was always a very good patient. I had 3 c-sections within 3 1/2 years, so I had a lot of practice with doctors, nurses, needles, etc. Sometimes you gotta put your self in the hands of others & have to trust that they won't cut off the wrong leg!
I know someone who better be being a good patient right now...Charly!

I am a terrible patient. Don't bother me and leave me alone
Asparagus is my favorite. I could eat it every day. A few weeks ago, I ate a pound of it - nothing else. That was my gourmet dinner!!!!!

I am a good/bad patient. Don't follow directions well, but I don't ask for much. Leave me alone. I think visiting people in the hospital is rude. They are sick, they don't need to be entertained. Drop off your gift, give them a kiss on the forehead and leave....quickly. If they are very ill, Set up a vigil in a lounge somewhere and visit with the family member of the ill person. They are the ones who need to be entertained and supported. Then go back to their house and clean it for them, mow their lawn etc....Sorry, got off on a pet peeve and off subject. Just got done with work, can you tell?

Thinking of you both
I've had you and Mr. Withakay on my mind since you mentioned the surgery, Karla. Sheesh, but sometimes, being the nursemaid is tougher.
I am a most excellent patient -- as long as I have every confidence in the DR and his/her expertise. Of course, I try to research that long before the surgery.
Just prior to any major surgery, when the nurse appears with a syringe, and smiles, and says, "just a little something to help you relax, dear," oh, but man! I am the bestest-ever patient in the world. Now I could become addicted to that stuff -- versed I think it's called? Definitely my drug of choice.
* singing now * They call me mellow yellow. . . that's right. . . they call me mellow yellow.
And my sister and I need NO excuse to drag our tiaras out, but thank you so much for bring the significance of May 24th to our attention! We'll just 'tiara-it' all day long. Our hubbies can 'deal with it.'
They can be the princes they are, now can't they?

Good question.. And timely for me. After my recent experience with pain and hospitals, I can now for sure state that I am a darn good patient! At least that is what they all told me at the hospital. Had an excellent staff and even tho' the pain dominated my visit, which I can normally take a lot of....we had some joking around and pretty good conversations. Drs., nurses, and the other staff. Glad to be home and am the type tho' that would prefer to just be left alone to handle my own needs here.
No tiara. Love asparagus. Hope that Mr. karla doing well and you get some rest and take care of yourself, karla.
