I take no prescription drugs, but I do take lots of natural vitamins minerals and herbs. Mrs keeps me healthy with these items and I keep paying on that life insurance policy, we seem to be counter productive here. lol

I am a good patient..... sometimes, though, I must say that i am non complient and a couple of my drs wanna kick my butt.
let 'em try it!
Well, my rheumatologist... she would probably do it.... only because I know her on a personal level... lol and she feels free to cuss infront of me...
WAIT! So does my Neurologist... is it me, or are they cussing infront of everyone?
I went and saw him earlier in the month and he said to me, Boy when the sh*t hits the fan with you, it hits hard.
I shake my head yes, give him a thank you, and smile.
Then he says to me, while going through the pages of my chart... i don't know what the hell we are going to do with you.
Is it me? He never talked with me like that before...... maybe he just happened to feel so inclined.... maybe he was feeling, ...luscious that day...lmao

Todays question:
Are you a "good" patient or a "difficult" patient ?
|
It all depends. Most of the time I'm a good patient. There are a few times though, like constant knee pain with the doctors just doing the same things over and over again that aren't working that I turn into a difficult patient. Finally after 10 years I have a referral for surgery, but it's frustrating that I have to fly to another state. Hopefully though this doctor doesn't just say here's some drugs you'll be fine in 2 weeks.

I am a very good patient, in fact, I am a better patient than I am as caregiver. I get too impatient! LOL Especially when DH and DSs don't do what I tell them. I have asaparagus in my refridgerator right now. I will wear my tiara while I prepare it today in anticipation of the most important event of the day- first game of the Stanley Cup Finals! Go Wings!

A couple of years ago, one of my nieces made some really good asparagus-she pre-cooked some bacon a little, then wrapped it around the asparagus, tied it [bacon] in a bow and baked it-yum!
No tiara for me, thanks, don't want to mess up my perfect coif...ha! I found a Mother's Day car the other day that my son had made when he was in about 4th grade, said ''one thing about my mom, she always thinks her hair looks bad'' and he had drawn a picture 'of me' with my hair standing straight up, and me saying ''MY HAIR LOOKS BAD!" Some things never change.
I am a very impatient patient, and just want to be left alone. Well, waited on of course, then left alone!

Asparagus is my favorite. I could eat it every day. A few weeks ago, I ate a pound of it - nothing else. That was my gourmet dinner!!!!!

Have you tried grilled asparagus with olive oil and garlic salt! Love it!
Me too! I just want to be left alone.
When I had a hysterectomy I was in so much pain and every time the meds would start working and I would fall asleep a nurse or DH would wake me up and ask how I was feeling!!
We (the Dr.,dh,mother and I) have learned that morphine is not the pain medicine that suits me best, it makes me very mouthy and mean.
The lady cleaning the room hit my bed several times with a dust mop , it woke me up and I gritted my teeth. She kept dropping things and she was singing. When she got in the trash can and stared rattling the trash bag,(it sounded like a grocery bag, and it seemed like it just went on and on) that was all I could stand.
Now remember I was heavily sedated!
I said if you don't get her out of here I'm going to get up and do it myself!
dh jumped up and ran in the bathroom and she left the room.
I apologized the next day when I was in my right mind
She was very sweet and i felt so bad for acting that way.
So no I am not a good patient!

I was a great patient when I had major surgery. For minor things, I'm not quite so compliant, especially with taking medication.
My daughters and I all have our tiaras on today . HOwever, I won't be cooking asparagas tonight (we're finally using the Cheesecake Factory gift cards we got at Christmas and doing curbside to go.) Hubby LOVES asparagas. I loathe it, but I cook it for hubby.
DD3 has been singing Mary Had a Little Lamb all day (how weird is that -- she doesn't usually sing that song and today's the anniversary of its creation!) In fact, this morning we even went on youtube looking to see if Paul McCartney and Wings' version of it was there. It is .
I hope Mr. Karla is feeling much better and that your job as hubby nurse will become obsolete very quickly!

They are the ones who need to be entertained and supported. Then go back to their house and clean it for them, mow their lawn etc....Sorry, got off on a pet peeve and off subject. Just got done with work, can you tell?

It's not just your pet peeve. I come from the county (Wilkes) that probably has had more patients killed in the hospital by well wishers than any other county in America. People don't come to see you for months and then when you get sick and cannot enjoy their company, here comes everybody. When the illness is heart attack or stroke, that can be fatal. My mil stood guard over my fil's door and made many people he worked with mad, but he lived to have two more heart attacks. If he had had to visit with all those people, I am not sure he would have survived the first one. He would never have told anyone he was tired and could not visit. He didn't have to, his wife loved him enough to take care of him.
Come to see me when I am well and can enjoy it; leave me alone when I am sick. If I need help, I will hire a nurse, or doctor as the case may be!

Mike,
You told us you were only kidding about the nurses. Were the doctors wearing the Victoria's Secret outfits?. Shirts and shoes required in surgery.
