Are Posters More Nasty Lately?
Wow, I'm seeing so many mean, rude answers to posters who happen to disagree about whether a city is a great place to live or not. I've seen some replies the last few days such as, "Don't let the door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya!!!" (referring to someone who was moving out of the city). People who are unhappy in their location post on here to vent their feelings, not to be verbally beaten up by insensitive clods.
Is there something in the water or just general frustration in the country about the economy, etc.? Or are people becoming more rude and mean-spirited in general? Is it because so much of our population is relocating that areas are no longer as they were just a few years ago and this creates anxiety in the transplants, as well as the locals.
Just wondering what everyone's thoughts on the subject are...

Most of us would be less nasty had we not been anonymous and/or were we communicating in person. Some are just on an ego trip and their most important goal is to show off their wit.

Since most of us found our way to this site while looking to relocate, if posters are sounding more nasty, maybe it's because they are having a rough time financially, can't sell their house, stuck in a job that they don't like, etc. Times are tough and when the going gets tough, many people get grumpy.

Ooohh, people have always been the same. Sometimes I talk with a store employee or a manager about the annoying security tags. I get the response "people steal"... Well, it's not like people just started stealing the last few years. People have been stealing since the beginning of times. It's called "cost of doing business." Same here. If somebody feels the need to ask strangers for advice and opinions, they should be aware they're not gonna hear validation alone. In other words, if you can't stand the heat, you get out of the kitchen.

Im curious as to why they put those annoying magnetic stickers on the big things where I work: Ladders, swamp coolers...its not like everyone can walk out the door with one of those in their back pocket. But then people take wheels right off of cars in parking lots too, so it must be the economy (?), they do what they gotta do to eat.

Been there seen that! I think people forget that there are other opinions about a topic. Not everyone feels the same way about a city or place but some people just don’t believe that there is another side to the story or thread.
I stay out of those places and enjoy the other parts of City Data. Now you’ll find very little if any problems like that in this topic area.
