Default Not that great

That was taken on the edge of a cliff, overlooking Skilak Lake. It had to be 50 degrees in the sun and darn near to bright out for pictures. No wind...totally awesome. The flag is actually a bandana. At the last second I thought what the hey...all other mountain climbers have flags in their pictures!
What to do today... cross country skiing, snowmachine ride, or fire up the model T? Decisions decisions...

OMG ... I have got to get to Alaska. Absolutely breathtaking. I can almost taste that clean, fresh air.

Well, my eyes aren't what they used to be, but I surely do not see any flag/bandana, but that is one beautiful view! Ooops, never mind.

Yeah, you get used to it, but after 6 months of snow and ice, you look forward to a nice summer. We have almost 13 hours of daylight now, and I can see occasional patches where grass is attempting to grow.

Summer in Alaska is incomaparable to anywhere else. Anchorage is covered in flowers and hanging pots. The drive down to the Kenai Peninsula is green and bright with forget-me-nots and fireweed. The Kenai and Russian rivers turn bright blue and green, and Skilak Lake is a mirror to the mountains and hills behind it.

I live for the moment when they report a grizzly sow and her cub(s) here in town, because for a little while I can think that I live in the real Alaska, instead of a big city. My boys and I walk down Campbell Creek here in town and watch the salmon try to live just a couple of hours longer (they've spawned and are just holding place in the creek). Butterflies are everywhere, and I'm in God's country.

Maybe I'll show up there sometime in mid June and hang out for the solstice. Probably not this year but I'd like to experience those long days.

Bring a camera! We'll be wanting to see a picture of you running from the bears, or fighting a 50 lbs king salmon, or climbing a mountain!

Pretty funny! You know my husband is always making fun of me for doing that. But I'm cute!
