Default Todays question Monday 6-16-08

Good morning everyone
Happy Monday
I hope everyone had a nice weekend
Well Mr Karla went back to work today so I guess I can no longer be dilatory with my housework
He watched quite a bit of TV during his recuperation and it seemed as if a few of his favorite movies were always on and yup he watched each and every one. Yesterday "we" watched "Silence of the lambs" for the 3rd time in as may days (yeah lol it was time for him to go back to work)
So I got to thinking hmmmm rofl and you know where that leads right to

Todays question:

Which movies do you "always" watch when they are on TV ?

Extra credit if you own the DVD but still watch it each time it comes on TV and deal with the commercials

Bonus question:Are there any movies that you have seen so many times you can "quote" certain lines?

Today in history:
June 16, 1882 17" hailstones weighing 1.75 lbs fall in Dubuque Iowa
June 16,1883 - The New York Giants baseball team admitted all ladies free to the ballpark on this, the first Ladies Day.
June 16, 1884 On Coney Island, the 1st roller coaster begins operating
June 16, 1903 Pepsi Cola company forms -Let me go pour another glass of my d-pepsi to celebrate

Word of the day:
dilatory \DIL-uh-tor-ee\, adjective:
1. Tending to put off what ought to be done at once; given to procrastination.
2. Marked by procrastination or delay; intended to cause delay;

Today is:
National Fudge Day - yes please
National Hollerin' Contest Day
National Fresh Veggies Day - no thank you and wait till you see what tomorrow is

Movies I have seen more than once:
Pretty Woman
Dirty Dancing--still can't believe they were in the lake at Lake Lure in October! Burrrr!
We came through there last week and the beach looked like it did in the movie. Busy!
The American President
Gone with the Wind

My daughter gave my dh the Pretty Woman movie. We still watch it on TV. TV is getting to be really sad. What is going on?

"Nobody puts Babe in the corner!"

Love chocolate and fresh veggies. I have been known to eat raw green beans after they were washed and I was braking them. They really are good raw.

Todays question:

Which movies do you "always" watch when they are on TV ?

We always watch Good Fellas, anything with Clint Eastwood in it, Young Guns, Not Another Teen Movie, & Back to the Future mostly.

Extra credit if you own the DVD but still watch it each time it comes on TV and deal with the commercials

I get extra credit, then, because we own all of these. Why are we watching with commercial interuption?!

Bonus question:Are there any movies that you have seen so many times you can "quote" certain lines?

OMG ~ Mr. Poconoproud has watched The Good, The Bad & The Ugly so many times, we say the lines before the actors do!

All hail the roller coaster, at Coney Island and everywhere else. Wheeeee!

Which movies do you "always" watch when they are on TV ?
Animal House, Rainman, Eight Men Out, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein

Extra credit if you own the DVD but still watch it each time it comes on TV and deal with the commercials Young Frankenstein; I cannot stand Blazing Saddles or Animal House on commercial TV, though. Way too many edits.

Bonus question:Are there any movies that you have seen so many times you can "quote" certain lines?
Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? I don't think there aren't too many movies I haven't seen three or four times that I can't quote! LOL

I really don't like to watch any movie over and over, but I may watch Gone With the Wind, Gremlins or Jaws if they're on.

Default You will always remember this as the day. . .

. . . you watched Captain Jack Sparrow for the one-millionth time! Savvy?

Several years back, when the first of The Pirates of the Caribbean movies was released, I had already seen it perhaps a dozen times in the theater -- I was still working, had the money to fritter-away, the time -- so it only made sense when I was on leave-of-absence, and stuck on the couch at home, that my dear, sweet husband (who spoils me incredibly) would treat me to the DVD. ON the very day it is released. I probably watched it a half dozen times that day, and at least once, twice, maybe three times a day thereafter.

It got to be something that 'entertained' him -- 'baffled' might be a better word -- and amazed friends who would drop by the house, or call, to visit over the next few weeks. My next-door neighbor asked, in all innocence, one day, how many times I had watched it, and out of curiosity, at that point, I started counting, and was well up there -- 300 at last count.

The things we do when we're in love.

And now to rack-up the bonus points: I can't seem to NOT watch it when it is on TV, commercials and all. Thank heavens, I was not mesmerized by its two sequels, although when one of the channels ran the three films, back-to-back, not too long ago, there I was. . . asking "but, why's the rum gone?"

Oh, and I want major, major bonus points: it is such a joke with my family and friends, until, to this very day, I get Captain Jack Sparrow 'everything' for holiday gifts or birthday presents. To count, I can sleep with the good cap'n on my Captain Jack Sparrow pillowcase, awaken to put together a puzzle of his beautiful face, plant kisses on posters of the pirate, and even play with my 18" Captain Jack Sparrow doll -- who talks, no less, and comes with accessories, including his own bottle of rum. My husband and I almost got divorced over that -- he thought I had to be kidding when I asked Santa for the doll two Christmases ago. He sits on the bookcase where I can wink at him, complete with a treasure chest a friend sent for my birthday.

Can I quote lines? I think I have the screenplay down pat. (Can you say "o-b-s-e-s-s-e-d"?) When my college-aged daughter told me, not-ever-so-gently, that this had to stop, I told her to 'stand down,' as I had suffered through The Little Mermaid with her at three, four, and five, and I wasn't making her sing-along to a cassette tape of the songs on a 12-hour and 25 minute, 734 mile drive to Massachusetts. Suffer, Baby.

I see some of my favorites have been mentioned already. Here's my list of movies that I will watch over and over and over again ...

The Godfather (Parts I and II), The Shawshank Redemption, Animal House, The Great Escape, The American President, Nixon, JFK, Primary Colors, Twelve Angry Men, Goodfellas, Inherit the Wind, most Star Trek movies, Fail Safe, Mr. Holland's Opus, Office Space (if you haven't seen it, you must!), The Candidate and the list goes on and on and on.

Bonus question:Are there any movies that you have seen so many times you can "quote" certain lines?

Oh yes - just about every movie I've ever seen. There are times that my wife and I will come upon a certain situation and just throw the appropriate movie line for the circumstance.

Charley

As most of you already stated:

Dirty Dancing and
Pretty woman.

Just own Dirty Dancing on DVD but have watched in only once without TV commercials.

Movies, I've seen so often, I can quote certain lines?!?!
Pretty Woman, Dirty Dancing, Rambo (I know, I know), The Devil's Advocate, Closer, and many many more.
