Thumbs up Ben Ownby Found Alive!!!

Ben Ownby, the 13 year old boy missing since Monday, was found this late afternoon in St. Louis in an apartment with another young boy who'd been kidnapped in 2002. The man who kidnapped them is being held on $1,000,000 bond.
I have to admit, when I saw that little boy on film after being rescued, my eyes welled with joy.
I'm so grateful to our God that He watched over this boy and protected him!!!
And I'm so happy for his dad and family who were absolutely devastated.
Thank God.

The other boy is Shawn Hornbeck and I assume his parents have been notified. He's now 15 years old. I imagine he'll need some really intense counseling.
I knew Steven Staynor in Merced, California when I was a kid in elementary school. He was kidnapped and molested by a man who kept him for years and a movie was made about him called "My name is Steven". Steven finally escaped and freed another boy who was much younger about 1979/80 and he was put into class at Merced High School where I graduated in 81. He became a stoner and I remember he hung around the smoking area a lot, and I understand he was killed in an accident at the age of 21...very sad.
Also, weirdly enough, Steven Staynor's brother, Carey Staynor is the one who slaughtered that woman and two teenagers and then a naturalist in Yosemite National Park in a brutal massacre and was sentenced to death.
I knew these guys...not well, but well enough to recognize them by name when I saw them.
I'm just very happy that Ben and this other boy Shawn are now safe.

I don't think I know anyone "famous" good or bad...Can you imagine what the parents of the missing boy 2002 are going through? First they see this new kidnapping on the news and relive their sons, then receive a phone call..I think I would just pass out...and I have never done that either!

I seen this on the News yesterday. That is wonderful they found him and wow I can't believe he had another boy too.
I pointed this out to my 14 year old boy. I told him see older kids can be taken too. We just moved from the country into town and I knew my son would want to do allot more walking around. my husband is like he is a big boy. In the dark he looks like a man walking done the road.
My son is 6' 2 but no way as strong as a man.
I am so happy they found the boys and caught the the guy.

I seen the movie and heard of the murders in Yosemite. I never knew about the the connection of them being brothers. Steven died at 21 ?
Thanks for sharing.

Hello! When I read the start of this thread that's exactly where my mind went was the Steven Stayner and Timmy White kidnappings!

I'm glad Ben and the other child were found. I always love a happy ending

I seen the movie, it was a great story, it is sad to know he died at an early age, I know we have had a young child missing out of Minnesota for a lot of years, his name is Jacob Wetterling, I keep hoping that he would be able to be found.
I am just glad that some parents do get good news, and get to see their children again, I think I would have fallen over in my case.
May God Bless each and everyone of them, I am glad they are back home.
