No special plans. Some of the towns around here have celebrations and we have talked about maybe going to 1 or 2 of them. One is on the 3rd and the other one is on the 5th. so many go to the 'city' to celebrate. We used to drive to St. Louis where the big celebration was on the Arch grounds. Music, food, music, crowds, food, more crowds and lots of beautiful fireworks. Which I thoroughly love. Wonderful place to celebrate the 4th. Now we most of the time stay home. sometimes we go out on the lake and set fireworks off from the shoreline or from our pontoon boat.
Many years ago it was quite a sight (and sound) when my husband's 4 brothers would get out on the lake in their pontoon boats as well and we would take turns setting off our fireworks for the kids to watch from the shore. Now kids are all grown up and most live out of state. Fun times they were.

Preparing for the 5th of July...
Sounds like some pretty good plans for many of you! This year the 4th will be kinda taking a "back seat" to the 5th for us! We are hosting a surprise fiftieth birthday barbecue/party for a friend on Saturday the 5th. So the 4th will probably have a lot of cleaning and prep for having company on the 5th!

I was thinking of trying to get a hotel down in Miami Beach and spending the night there. I don't know though. It'll probably be crazy there and I hate rowdy, crazy, mob scenes. There are lots of "celebrations" here in Miami but I don't want to be driving around either with all the looneys on the road.
So.......still trying to think about what to do.

That sounds like a cool idea vpcats staying at a hotel and watching the fireworks from high up.

I don't have any plans at the moment. The 24th of July is much bigger in this area than the 4th is anyway.

We had talked about going down to visit our boys down by Cincinnati for a couple of days since my wife is off from noon Thursday until Monday morning, but my boss decided to open the store up for 3 1/2 hours on Saturday, so I have to work. Maybe we will see if either of them wants to meet us in Celina (about half way) for a picnic on Friday along the lake.
