What are Your "Fourth of July" plans?
So how are you going to enjoy the 4th this year?
I remember the years gone by when the small town I grew up in always had a parade through town, volunteer fire departments from other small towns around the area visited and had water fights with their hoses in the street. At the end of the evening when it got dark enough they started the big fireworks display. Everyone enjoyed eating watermelon and watching the fireworks go off. In the business district area, they closed off the street and had “street dancing” with live music. Several of the town bars opened their doors and everyone enjoyed the fun and music.
Small towns know how to enjoy their neighbors and friends, and those good old days are still happening in small towns across America.

Well, it is going to be better than last year for sure. Then, my oldest was in rehab and that was a miserable time for us. Then my dh and youngest son decided to take a 'boys' day out and went fishing all day.
This year, I am planning a cookout for my inlaws and parents and us of course. It should be a fun time for all of us. We are all healthy and happy .....
and......
I just bought a new grill!

Myself and 5 other buddies are going to take a couple boats across the bay from Homer Alaska, to a small town called Seldovia and watch the small town parade, canoe jousting, BBQ'ing, greased pole climbing etc. Then we are going out on the water and have ourselves a Halibut fishing contest amongst ourselves. Should be a fun time and I will get some pictures. Cannot wait to eat some fresh Halibut! I wonder if I can smuggle some to Sweden on the 7th...hmmmm...

On the 4th, I'm flying up to NNY to visit my mom, sisters and their families. What can I say - I got a great fare!
I hope when we arrive at Mom's that my BIL has the barbie fired up and some beer on ice. I think I'll need it by then!
Have a safe, happy and FREE 4th of July all.

Do it Safe!

Being safe on the fourth is most important. I will have several cold beers near the BBQ grill in case of fire – I’ll have something to put it out with.
I don’t have any dogs or cats but I understand that it’s very important to keep them inside the house. They hear all of the noise and get very scared and run,,,, getting lost at night with all that is going on. So if you have a pet,,,, keep them inside the house.
I’m not driving anyplace! There are too many others who try to drink and drive ~ it’s not a time to be out with them on the highways doing 60~70 mph going from place to place.

Family BBQ for the family that's close. Local market has spare ribs on sale for $0.97 a lb, So a few racks of those will go on the barbie.
City move the fireworks display to a park just 1/4 up the street, so that should be good fun. If I can get moving earliy enough in the AM. I might make it to the parade.
And yes, keep your pets in the house.
