I guess the other thing I like to do to cool down is go float in the pool. It's a little slice of heaven on earth, IMO.

I don't think I've done anything "funny" to cool off. First hubby and I used to drag a mattress onto our screened in patio and sleep there. My mom used to think that was weird.

FIL day...darn, I didn't know and I didn't get a card. Shoot.

Back when we lived at the Jersey shore there was a cedar creek with a small beach. Many nights when it was brutally hot we would take the kids and just stand in the creek. The water was so icy cold you would just feel your body temp drop.

Cheesecake Day-my kind of day.

drink lots of water !!
I find this helps with the heat

plan "outside" chores early - lol I need to work on this one

if your going to be at the beach or laying in the back yard have a spray bottle of water and mist yourself

funny silly things I have done

when I would go to my nephews baseball games in the FL heat I would drag out my huge golf umbrella
I have also been known to put a zip bag of ice under my hat

this is perfect "adjust the sprinklers" weather, it is a sure way to keep cool when your "sprinkled"

I have dragged the box fan from the garage with a long extension cord and placed it in front of which ever bed I was weeding or planting
this gets almost as many strange looks as when I vacuum my driveway

If you have leather seats in your car keep a old towel to put over then so when you get in wearing a pair of shorts you won't create a sunroof because you jump straight up when you bare skin hits the hot leather

things I have seen done
way back when I was in 9th or 10th grade there wasn't A/C in the school our math teacher use to draw a picture of an air conditioner on the blackboard
he "claimed" it would make us feel cooler

my NN goes around with a wet washcloth around her neck held with a clothespin, it is an interesting combo with the fabric softener sheet she has on back of her shirt to keep the bugs away again using a clothespin to hold it on

I can usually handle the heat
it is the humidity that gets me, right now it is so humid that just standing out side gets you that little "glow"

How funny -- both the math teacher drawing an a/c unit, and the neighbor with the things clothes-pinned to her. I didn't know fabric softener sheets keep bugs off you! Nice.

As a young woman, I used to love Summer. It meant school was out, and I had some time to myself, and I knew of no other job(s) that afforded people such a luxury. I could pretend to be a stay-at-home Mom after my daughter was born, and we spent wonderful late afternoons on the beach when she was little.

Now, I can't wait for Summer to be over and done with. I cannot handle the heat, or the humidity, and am confined to the house. My body does not always perspire, and until I learned that, ended up in an ER with heat exhaustion. You live and you learn, as I've heard said.

Here in Rochester, yesterday, the temperature was in the 90s, which was quite strange. Didn't feel that hot, however because there was little humidity -- that is the one thing that will "separate the men from the boys," as my Dad used to say. I'm not even a 'boy'.

Yes, by August here in Florida (as with most the rest of the US east of Rockies), I don't want to go outside.

But I have been known to pour ice water over my head, and the ice watered wash cloth on the back of the neck is a big help.

I'll be a recluse until mid September. One of the not so real joys of Florida.

I am not real sure it works but it is entertaining

during the winter if it is a windy day she has huge cotton balls in her ears to block the wind

lacey we use to go back in the late 70's
when it was really hot someone would end up "tipping" the canoe
