Today in history:
August 4, 1693 Dom Perignon invents champagne
August 4,1821 - "The Saturday Evening Post" was published as a weekly for the first time. - I guess it was easier than to have to call it "the every other week Saturday Evening post"

August 4, 1956 Elvis Presley releases "Hound Dog"
Word of the day:

National Backgammon Day
Hmmm if we don't see Mike around for the next 4 days, it is because it is

That's funny, Stude and Karla. Just yesterday, we were in the car and the oldies station was on. I was singing away (at least that's what I call it - singing) and I asked DH "how come, most days, I can barely remember my own name, but I remember every word in songs from 36 years ago!" He didn't have an answer.
OK. Today I have to cancel the meeting w/the life insurance guy - check. Bring back some stuff to Radio Shack and see if we can get my earphones working on the tv again. See if we can make an appt. to talk to somebody about taking over our home and car insurances.
I doubt I'll get the 3rd thing done, but it's worth a shot.
OK, Karla...what're you trying to do to us? 2 lasagna days within a week? I think not.

Old music must be a male thing. Give me 1 bar of the introduction of any song written from 1955-1970 and I will know what it is. It's a gift.

I might have one or two for you Mike. Because today I have to mow the lawn (it's looking like the Amazon forest),AND pull weeds (do not any more weed citations for the city), and I'm not forgetting to pick up my Allegra subscription at City Market today before I sneeze my brains out when I start this endeavor. I'll have that beer while I'm chowing down on that Lasagna and listening to Elvis Presley's "Hound Dog."

Today Is a short one for me.
See my wife off (yet another week out of town) and make sure everything is packed in the car for her. No plane trip this round, she's driving.
Install a USB2 card in a client PC for a new scanner.
Stop at a couple of stores for provisions and, hopefully, Costco will have a set of fans we want.
Stay in the house!! We have heat warnings again today, so it looks like house cleaning instead of yard work. This is supposed to let up later this week, which is good as the State Fair is getting close.
Got a new roof put on last Fri/Sat! Looks really good and will still have a transferable warranty when we sell in a few.
Enjoy your day everyone!

studedude and karla y'all are very funny today!!!
nms..I am the same way...
mmike...good luck on not getting sent to your room for a whole day...much less the entire week!!!
My list of things to get done today is way too long to put on here, but I have gotten about 1/4 of it done already. So maybe I will get to do a happy dance later on.
I hope you all have a wonderful day today and good luck to you all with your "to do list"!!!

Ugh, what a way to start the week. My family is still here, they will be leaving in a few hours. I guess then I will attempt making a list of things to do that are really important. such as getting 'things' packed away. Told my son yesterday that I was becoming 'overwhelmed with all of these photos from his dad's family and what to do with them. Decided to sort through them, decide what needs to be scanned and box up the rest by date/event/people. Something.
Be back later with some other chores.
