Default Todays question Thursday 8-07-08

Good morning everyone
Happy Thursday
Ok really rushing this morning because in about an hour I am heading south to Tampa to meet up with 2 of the regulars from the daily exercise thread !!!!!
I am so excited to meet them because we have all know each other on CD for over a year now we get to meet in person
I won't be back till tomorrow afternoon lol so can you all hold out till then or do you want me to get someone to post the "? 0' the day"

I still have to shower & pack(lol nothing like waiting till the last minute ) so lets get going with the next installment in our Olympic themed

Todays Question:

Which do you prefer watching, the Summer or Winter Olympics ?
(yes you can choose both)

Bonus Question:
Which event(s) are your favorite ?

Today in history:
August 7,1782 - George Washington orders the creation of the Badge of Military Merit to honor soldiers wounded in battle. It is later renamed to the more poetic Purple Heart.
August 7, 1888 Theophilus Van Kannel of Philadelphia patents revolving door
August 7,1959 - The Lincoln Memorial design on the U.S. penny goes into circulation. It replaces the "sheaves of wheat" design and is still in use.

Word of the day:
asperity \as-PAIR-uh-tee\, noun:
1. Roughness of surface; unevenness.
2. Roughness or harshness of sound; a quality that grates upon the ear.
3. Roughness of manner; severity; harshness.

Today is:
National Raspberries in Cream Day
and
National Beach Party Day
it is also
National Lighthouse Day
and don't forget
Particularly Preposterous Packaging day

I used to be a big Olympics fan, but not so much anymore. Can't say why, either. I'll tell you one thing, tho...I'm routing for the 40-something woman on the swim team! You go, girl!

I like both of them, but the Summer games have a slight edge for me over the winter games.

Bonus Question:
Which event(s) are your favorite ?

Shhh, don't tell so I can preserve the manly image; but I really like the womens gymnastics. They are so graceful and move so fluidly that it is easy to forget how difficult and demanding the routines are. The mens gymnastics are cool as well, but it is more rigorous and you can see the strength needed to do the moves.

For the winter I love the downhill stuff. Anything with downhill skis and I like it.

Cool! I had already planned to take the kids out to the lighthouse today then to the beach, so I will toss in some fresh from the bush raspberries and a tub of whipped cream (which is a family favorite anyway) and cover these three. Maybe even take them to a more remote light where it is a mile and quarter walk down the beach to the light and take the raspberries and cream as a treat for when we get there, three birds with one stone sort of thing you know.

It's funny, as much as I don't care to ever shovel snow again, I really prefer the Winter Olympics--always have, especially the bobsled, downhill slalom and the ski jump.
However, I love watching the diving competition in the Summer Olympics, as well as the gymnastics, both genders.
