Default The Computer Swallowed Grandma !

.

The computer swallowed grandma.
Yes, honestly its true!
She pressed 'control' and 'enter'
And disappeared from view.

It devoured her completely,
The thought just makes me squirm.
She must have caught a virus
Or been eaten by a worm.

I've searched through the recycle bin
And files of every kind;
I've even used the Internet,
But nothing did I find.

In desperation, I asked Jeeves
My searches to refine.
The reply from him was negative,
Not a thing was found 'online.'

So, if inside your 'Inbox,'
My Grandma you should see,
Please 'Copy,''Scan' and 'Paste' her
And send her back to me.

This is a tribute to all the Grandmas who
have been fearless and learned
to use the Computer.....
They are the greatest!!!

We do not stop playing because we grow old;
We grow old because we stop playing .
NEVER Be The First To Get Old!

Here she is now, she was riding in "cyberspace".

I believe Microsoft fixed that problem, all you have to do is make sure you have their latest security patches..

I find it interesting that we have all swallowed the stereotype that everyone with grey hair inevitably has to be a grandma. My 81 year old mother, who is pretty computer literate and surfs the net dialy, is not now, never has been, and will never be a "Grandma".

It's rather like making the statement that all black people can dance or that all Jews are cheap or that Mexicans are all webacks. It is a demeaning stereotype and I, for one, do not appreciate it in the least.

I'm lost! Where did this come from. I don't recall him saying every gray haired, older woman was a grandma! I have 12 grandchildren and have never thought of grandma as being demeaning.

99.9 percent of the women on this board would consider it demeaning to be identified solely as "Mr. Johnson's wife". It is exactly the same thing only WORSE. Instead of being identified as an extension of another person, you are being identified based on someone elses reproductive status. I would be up in arms if someone assumed I was a grandma or stereotyped me as such thinking that my only accomplishment worth mentioning is that my son's penis works.

Well, I am old, and I am not grandma..I am MAMMAW and proud of all nine of them..I surf the internet, I read great novels, I watch and learn from the history channel, because I love history..I am in the process of writing my memoirs for my family, I had a successful at home business for over ten years, and I quit bleaching my hair a couple years ago because I think gray hair is beautiful and softens my many "smile lines"

My son built my Mom a computer, he set it up and showed her how to get on the internet, he also set it up so when she logged on it would open an instant messenger to me, one day I'm sitting at the computer and the messenger popped up so I sender her a " hey what ya doing Ma?" she instantly logged off, I did this 3 or 4 times and she would log off every time so I called her, she thought some pervert was trying to talk to her she never got the hang of using the computer, it just sits there gathering dust.

Wow I thought this thread was encouraging, more than it was offensive, I know grandmothers in my age bracket 30's, so there is no set look for them anyway. But most grannies are sweet and older with grey hair, is that a bad thing? The best thing about stereotypes is when you break them wide open!!
