I am half Norwegian, and the rest is a blend of Indian, Scottish, Irish, German and who knows what else. Put it all together and you get an honest caring and very loving and forgiving person.

I'm Scottish, Irish, English, Cherokee and a bit of German and who knows what else!

One GreatGrampa was in the Civil War; Jesse & Frank James would be my 6th cousins; and Andrew Jackson is also related by marriage to a cousin in another line. (I think I prefer the James bros. since I abhor what Jackson did to the Indians in the south!)

My husband is Slavic. One grandmother came to the US from Yugoslavia as an indentured servant and became a successful business woman.

ExNYC is on a distinguished road
Great thread! Loved your pic's, MoMark.

I'm all-American but of completely Irish heritage. My husband is English/Irish.

My great-great-great-grandpa Kelly was welcomed off the boat in NY straight into the Union Army. He was injured by a minee ball, came out of the army and died in 1869. The rest of the family on both parents' side were all-Irish. If my mother's dad hadn't lost his first wife in the 1918 flu epidemic, I'd never have been born.

Paddy's Pig, here!

My father was half German and half Yugoslavian and my mother is full Yugoslavian. That makes me one quarter German and three-fourths Yugoslavian (Serbian). Not a real common combination! My husband is half Ukrainian and the other half Welsh and German. So our children are mainly Slavic and German.

My mother's ancestors arrived in New London, CT in 1635 (not a typo) from Dordrecht, Netherlands by way of England. I found a complete list of all her ancestors all the way back to that time (13 generations) on a rootsweb search. That floored me. Their family history reads like an American history book.

My father was Scotch-German, second generation American. My paternal grandfather was from Scotland but we never knew much about him. He was a merchant sailor whose ship was lost at sea after my father was born around 1918. My paternal grandmother was a Chicago native whose parents immigrated from Bremen, Germany around 1885.

Me, I am English/Scots/Irish. On my dad's side, our ancestor, at the age of 18 sailed from England and arrived in what was to become Old Saybrook, Connecticut in 1635. My mom's people arrived in Colorado from Ireland in the late 1860's.

I was a childhood towhead, now I am a dishwater blonde head with a few white hairs threading in. I come from a family of recessive genes.
Cil I just read your post. Look at my post that I just sent in before this. I noted that my mothers ancestors arrived in Connecticut from the netherlands via England in 1635. Wonder if your people and my people were on the same boat? Wow!!

Aren't we ALL adorable? LOL
There are actually lots of redheaded Jews, but many people don't realize this. My heritage is about 1/2 Polish, and that's probably where it comes from... not sure why (supposedly has something to do with Cossacks? Or possibly the cold weather?), but there are tons of redheads & blondes in Poland!

Me too... my dad, sister, brother and I are all redheaded, which is supposedly a recessive gene. Tell that to my brunette mother who's surrounded by us!!

The sad thing is the older generation that knows this info is slowly dying away. Makes me wish someone had written it all down.
My gandfather is 91 and is in awesome health. He has always told us about his WWII experiences, family history, ect. I home school my boys, and I had my 13 year old son do an interview with my grandfather about our family history. I read his report, and learned a lot of new things I never knew about. Our elderly have such a goldmine of knowledge and wisdom. We really should take advantage of it!

Oh MoMark!!! I have a pic of my other half and I just like the last one you have posted. We took it on a cruise last summer. They have all these costumes and you get dressed up. I have it in color and black and white and we have it in a old style frame. Looks soooo weird!

And my background: 50% cuban (mother) 50% spaniard (father).
