How many trash cans/bags do you put out each week.
When in WV - one small-medium trash bag per week. In ME, a small bag about every other week or so, I burn most things when up there.

Does your city have a separate bin for recycling ?
In WV, not that I am aware of - just one garbage truck comes along. Some folks have recycle bins but the garbage folks dump it all in the same trash truck so what's the point? The nice thing about the recycle mode in ME is that folks get money for their plastics and aluminum rather than letting someone else reap the financial rewards.

What is the strangest thing you have put out for pickup
A rug.

Have you ever put something out only to have it picked up by someone before the trash pickup folks got there ?
Um, I'm the one that goes around picking up other people's trash. I am nuts about rocking horses. If I see a rocking horse being discarded, I pick it up, fix it up and then donate it around Christmas for poor kids and orphanages.

When I was in FL, a neighbor saw some of the refinished rocking horses I had drying in the sun and she asked what I was selling them for. I told her I didn't sell them, I gave them to charities. She gave me $20 for one of them.

Keep that eye to the sky, Carla. Recycling wise, I live 15 miles from a recycling center so I only go in once a week or so. Like Mike, I donate to the Goodwill or Salvation Army every now and then so an item has to be pretty useless before I toss it. On the subject of penguins, over the weekend I scored some cool dvd's at a yard sale. One of them was March Of The Penguins. Going to watch it tonight!

I haul my one bag to a dumpster up the road twice a week. I allow no trash stored at my house!

Yes we have recycle bins (which I don't use) and even a bulk dumpster for car parts, plywood, couches, frigerators etc.

Strangest thing? Nothing comes to mind.

Lot's of folks leave usable items at this dump site. And lot's of people grab them. I grabbed a large lawn chair last year to keep out by the pond! And I've grabbed some kiddie bike parts and built a bike for a small child last year as well.

One can per week.

Yes, we have mixed recycling picked up every other week.

I too have had people pick up stuff from our trash many times.

Hope you all have a terrific day!!!!

How many trash cans/bags do you put out each week

I average 3 of the 33 gallon bags a week. Not too bad for 6 people in the household I don't think. It will be lower when we start to separate out ALL the stuff they take for recycling. (Hoping to get down to 1 bag)

Bonus Question:
Does your city have a separate bin for recycling ?

The town I live in gives each homeowner a bin or two (depends on how many you want) for recycling that you can put by your regular trash every week. Then a separate truck with different bins comes along and picks it all up like the trash.

Extra Credit Question:
What is the strangest thing you have put out for pickup

I once put a 4 cyl Toyota car motor out for pick-up. They came back a bit later with a different truck and an extra guy to help toss it in, but no problems. (blown, and all the good parts were stripped off first)

Extra Extra Credit Question:
Have you ever put something out only to have it picked up by someone before the trash pickup folks got there ?

All the time. Sometimes I will set something out there that looks different or unique just to see how long before somebody stops and asks about it. Yeah, I know, I need a different hobby for my days off, but....

Word of the day:
aestival \ES-tuh-vuhl\, adjective:
Of or belonging to the summer

We call them Fudgies here, or other unprintable names . LOL

Sorry, popped into my head and I just has to put it down. Ahh, another few weeks and we get our town back from all the tourists who have held it hostage all Summer for fudge, trinkets, And Beach Sand highs.

Our trash is picked up once a week. We always manage to fill the one container. My hubby has to wheel the container down and up our steep hill (poor baby). Every few months we take a trip to the dump to get rid of bigger items. Once a year we clean out closets and donate to Good Will.

Todays Question:

How many trash cans/bags do you put out each week

Probably two bags

Bonus Question:

Does your city have a separate bin for recycling ?

Yes, and we use it. Not everybody does, which blows my mind.

Extra Credit Question:

What is the strangest thing you have put out for pickup

A couch....metal fencing...a vacuum cleaner...skis...boxes of slot cars and slot car tracks...games such as Clue, Monopoly etc etc

And a because I can

Extra Extra Credit Question:

Have you ever put something out only to have it picked up by someone before the trash pickup folks got there ?

All the time. All of the stuff I listed above was picked up before the trash guys ever came.
