I've tried putting them out with a sign that says "free take me". At this point I'd almost be willing to pay to ship them to AZ so you can shoot them.
I was thinking you would be the strangest you put out hoping someone would pick you up. I guess you are in the wrong town. To quote Jackson Browne & Glenn Frey;
Well, I'm a standing on a corner
In Winslow, Arizona
And such a fine sight to see
Its a girl, my lord, in a flatbed
Ford slowin down to take a look at me

We have a very unique situation here. We have a post office box and we take our own trash and our cat is self sufficient so we can leave home and no one knows. We just leave lots of water in the back yard for the cat and lots of food for her cat party. The birds and possums come to the party too. We have to pay 25 cents per bag to the trash dump attendant and anything that can be recycled is free. We used to be able to drop off one bag for free if we had a bag of recycleables but they stopped that. We pay about 50 cents per week for two bags of kitchen trash plus the gas to go to the dump. I have a compost bin for the leaves and grass and vegetable scraps.
P. S. I always let a neighbor know I am leaving, just in case the cat gets sick or anything. They know which vet we use. We all watch out for each other. Great neighbors!

We put out one trashcan a week for a family of five which is always enough because we recycle the paper cardboard, plastic, cans and bottles. The recycled stuff we have to deliver to a city supplied dumpster that is only about 1/2 mile away.
Back when we rented in a less desirable area everything we put out to be hauled off was picked up by someone long before the city truck showed up. I thought it was funny until we started getting bothered by them, yes they actually came back and asked what exactly is wrong with this or that, do I still have the paper work, complaining about how much they had to spend on getting it fixed, it was unreal. After the first few run ins with the local dumpster divers I told my kids to start breaking everything beyond recognition before setting it out.

Todays Question:
How many trash cans/bags do you put out each week. 1 main garbage bin
Bonus Question:
Does your city have a separate bin for recycling ? Yes, papers and cans/bottles
Extra Credit Question:
What is the strangest thing you have put out for pickup. Hubby...they didn't take him.
And a because I can
Extra Extra Credit Question:
Have you ever put something out only to have it picked up by someone before the trash pickup folks got there ?
Yes, our trash compactor. We think it was gone before we closed our front door.
