Todays question Friday 8-22-08
Good morning everyone
Happy Friday
We are having a Fay Day today
It's a tad blowin out there
So it's gonna be a wet one here in NE FL
Since there is rain on my mind I thought we need to ask this in
Todays Question:
How many umbrellas do you own ?
Extra credit:
Where are they located (house, car, never where I need it )
Bonus Question :
When was the last time you took a walk in the rain or splashed in a big puddle
Just because :
Have you ever owned one of those snazzy yellow rain coats
Today in history:
August 22, 1715 Handels "Watermusic" premieres on Thames
August 22,1865 - William Sheppard of New York City patented liquid soap
August 22,1906 - The Victor Talking Machine Company of Camden, New Jersey began to manufacture the Victrola (record player). The hand-cranked unit, with horn cabinet, sold for $200. Records sold separately.
Word of the day:
Hobson's choice \HOB-suhnz-CHOIS\, noun:
A choice without an alternative; the thing offered or nothing.
Today is:
National Eat a Peach Day
and
Southern hemisphere Hoodie Hoo Day
it is also
National Tooth Fairy Day
and lets not forget
National Be an Angel Day

Karla, I just got an e-mail about walking in the rain and it made me cry. Sorry, I deleted it because I like to keep my e-mails cleaned out.
I have two umbrellas I bought at Sam's, or maybe I should say I stole them at Sam's. I know the price was wrong. One is a small black dressy one and the other is a huge blue and white that is big enough to be used as a cane if one wanted to. It is structured so the wind does not bother it and everybody wants it when they see me use it. It has covered at least 7 people at one time. I treasure it and keep it in our newest car trunk. The black one is kept in the other car trunk.
I went walking in the rain, the last time it rained here in NC. I love walking in the rain.
No yellow raincoat, but my sil's mother once gave me a coral raincoat with a sou'wester hat. I used the raincoat, but I did not use the hat because I thought it looked like a man's hat. You know how teens are.
Try to keep dry and not float away!

Hmmmm, There are zero umbrellas in my home, my family uses the old fashion method, take a running start to the truck and fumble around getting soaked while opening the door. Or grab anything that will cover your head, newspaper, plastic bags etc . Last time I took a stroll in the rain, at work my job requires you to work in all types of weather or natural disasters

I have one umbrella.
It is always in the car, but I am not in/by the car when I need it !
I do not intentionally walk in the rain, nor do I intentionally splash in puddles
No...no snazzy yellow raincoat. (I have a yellow raincoat, but it isn't "snazzy").
My family had one of those Victrolas. I inherited it, but made the mistake of leaving it at my oldest half sisters when I was between homes. She turned it into a liquor cabinet !!!
Okay, I will go eat a peach right now.
Edited to say : " Stay safe, Karla ".

How many umbrellas do you own ?
More than I can count
Where are they located (house, car, never where I need it )
All over the house, the garage, the closets, both cars, etc ... and never where I need one!
When was the last time you took a walk in the rain or splashed in a big puddle.
The last time it rained - because I couldn't find an umbrella.
Have you ever owned one of those snazzy yellow rain coats
As a kid, didn't we all have them? When I was a kid, I was so fat that then it rained and I went outside the house, people would see me and call "Taxi? Taxi?". (Thinking about that now as an adult ... I should have charged them by the mile!)
To All The Allman Brothers Fans - Happy "Eat A Peach" Day!

I believe we own one umbrella, I have no idea where it is at. I believe in the house, my wife knows where it is. I don't own a rain coat but I actually enjoy walking in the rain. I find it somewhat calming, at least when it is a rain shower, now when it is thundering an lightning I'm sprinting to car if I have to. I like to drive in the rain too.
Eat a peach day, yum, Colorado peaches are my favorite. Have relatvies that live where they are grown, so usually get a good supply.

No umbrellas here sadly. I live in a desert climate and in fact our yearly precipitation to date is just over 5 inches. The fires in the west haven't been as bad as the last several years. On a positive note, National Peach Day is definitely noted here. The Palisade Peach Festival was last weekend and I made a pig of myself snarfing down those palisade peaches. YUMS!! CMTAD! Bought Eat A Peach when it came out, what a great 2 lp set from the Spring of '72!

Own 3 umbrellas
1 in car, 1 hanging on my front door doorknob, 3rd one is burried in the garage someplace. (garage is used for storage until the house renovations are done).
Oh as a kid I hated my yellow rain coat with the Gorton Fishermans' type hat. Those big ugly hinged snap thingys. (ever get your finger pinched in them things???? Like OUCH!!!!!) If memory serves me (and it doesn't very often) that rain coat had the matching pants. We kids did walk to school so mom wanted us to get there dry. Then the galoshes were black rubber.
I enjoy walking in the rain every once in a while. But last time I played in a puddle was when my children were small. Had to let them know puddles were O.K.
Did we forget the bubble umbrella??? had one of those in my teens.
Wishing all a very happy and fun filled Friday

Never had an umbrella, never had a cheesy yellow rain coat, last time in the rain was 3 weeks ago fishing out of Whittier Alaska. I steer clear of puddles. Around here they could be neck deep!
Good morning Karla! Hope you get no tornadoes! And I'm still looking at the color weather chart! I just up-date it every time. Very cool!
