Did you mark your growth each year?
Did your Mom or Dad ever mark the wall or doorframe while you were growing up to keep track of how tall you grew each year? And when did they stop? I remember one house they did that before I started school, we moved and they started again on another doorframe but several years later we moved again and they didn’t mark any longer. I don’t think people even do this with their kids today however.

Well for awhile mom did this, but like you, we moved and it stopped. Now it seem like I need to measure shrinkage.

Yes we had little marks on the wall to track growth. I think we stopped marking the wall when I started growing out instead of up!

At one of my student's homes they had markings on a doorway for each of their 3 kids, along with the worlds smallest lady and Shaq.
...well, Shaq's was on the wall near the ceiling, not quite on the door frame.

My dad is so sweet about this...both the cellar door frames on both sides and the entry door frames are filled with the heights of me and my brother, and seven grandchildren! The sad part? I AM NOW THE SHORTEST!!

Growing up we did not have a growth chart but my husband and I started when we had children. We have moved three times since having children and the panel from the door frame has come with us everytime
We had to start adding my sons best friend on the chart since he is always at our house. It is cute

When I was young, I measured growth against the doorframe. Now that I'm older, I measure it with increasing belt sizes.

Yep sure did. At both our house and my Grandparents house. My Aunt and Uncle bought my Grandparents house years ago and all our marks were/are still there on the pantry door jamb (even though it had been sold to another family in between). I have done the same with my 4 boys and made sure it was on a door jamb that I could easily replace if we moved. It is out in the garage right now and I have to get it mounted someplace in our new house this week because school starts the 2nd and we always mark on the first day of school.

My parents didn't do this. My wife's parents did. They still live in the same house and the chart is at the top of the cellar stairs. The first time I saw the markings I remember thinking "that is soooo cool!"
Never did this, because we're a couple of D.I.N.Ks. but I always thought it would be a great idea to photograph kids once a week, maybe standing in front of a young tree to mark the passing of time. I'll do this in the next life for sure.
