No plans. We rarely travel over holidays, too many on the roads in too big a hurry not being careful. Reminds me of New Years Eve. We call it Amateur Night because people who would never consider drinking and driving get smashed and smashed, if you know what I mean. I'll pass.
As for special, well we are stopping for a couple of days. The wife has been on the road a lot lately and she needs a rest. Milwaukee one week, Omaha the next, then Nashville. This week a 2 hour drive for an overnighter to sit in on a meeting, then back the next day. 11 hours to fly from Nashville to DSM. United Airlines is the worst one around and they have the rudest, laziest employees I've ever come across. I won't get started. I could have driven her in the same amount of time with a lot less stress!
Forget? Yes, I did. Was in the middle of setting up an appointment to install POS software with a rep and he reminded me we aren't getting it done Monday, so it wll have to wait a week (salon - not open Monday). Oops!
Wife has a Cross Stitch friend coming over Saturday since it's her turn to hostess for their once-a-month get together. Me, I've got some yard work and a little to do on the house. Going to keep it to a minimum, though.
Everyone enjoy the weekend and those of you down south take care and leave if you must, don't take a chance!

Today's Question:
Do you have any special plans for the long weekend?
Bonus Question:
Are there any special past "Labor Days" that really stick out in your mind?
Extra credit Question:
lol I have to ask Did anyone else "forget" ?
|
No plans this year.
The only past Labor day that sticks in my mind was in 1999 when my husband and I moved from TX to OR so I could meet his family. Other than that, every Labor Day has been spent working working working.
Didn't forget, but then I have nothing to do but count the days until I can drive and get up and move about without crutches. I still don't miss work though, lol.

Another long weekend? Now that I am a man of leisure all weekends are 7 days long. We are having Mrs Dude's family over for dinner Monday, I'm the grillmaster. Most of my Labor Days, for the last 20 years, have been spent at O'Reilly Raceway Park, in Indianapolis, for the NHRA US Nationals. One memorable weekend I officiated at a renewal of vows ceremony. A couple who had been married on Labor Day 25 yrs before, while attending the race, wanted the Race Chaplain to conduct the renewal service. I have done weddings on the starting line. I did this service in the winner's circle Health problems keep Mrs Dude from going to Indy and I don't want to leave her alone for 3 days. So I'll watch on TV. Go Tim & TJ.

Smoking some ribs... I always have a hard time doing that because I couldn't get them to fit in the pipe..
Mesquite-grilled and smoked ribs are great.

Don't have any plans yet. When you retire, every day is Labor Day or Easter or Thanksgiving Day or Christmas. I just get up in the morning and take my pick.
