Default Todays question Saturday 8-30-08

Good morning everyone
Happy Saturday

Sending good thoughts to all of our CD friends that are in the possible track of Gustav. Be safe everyone.

My hubby has often joked "There are 3 things you don't want to ask Karla about, because you will get more info than you ever expected".
I have noticed in the 2 years I have been on CD that we have so many folks with varied interests, I thought it would be fun to have this subject explored in

Todays question:

Do you have a list of "subjects I can go on forever about"?

Extra credit Question:

Have you ever been "Volunteered" for something because of your expertise in a certain area ?

Bonus Question:
When was the last time you toasted marshmallows ?
(you didn't think I would not let this go unnoticed)

Today in History:
August 30, 1850 Honolulu, Hawaii becomes a city
August 30, 1901 Hubert Cecil Booth patents vacuum cleaner
August 30, 1933 Air France forms
August 30, 1979 President Carter attacked by a rabbit on a canoe trip in Plains Ga

Word of the day:
fop
\FOP\, noun:
A man who is overly concerned with or vain about his dress and appearance

Today is:
National Toasted Marshmallow Day
and
National Neighborhood Day
over on the daily exercise thread it is
Foods Have No Calories Day

Oh, name the subject. I can elaborate on it forever.

Oh, gosh, it's been way too long since I've toasted a marshmallow. Can't eat a lot of them, but oh, boy, that one or two ......mmmm

Now I know who to kill for the vacuum cleaner. Let me at 'im.

You probably already knew this but, don't get me started on drag racing. After being a driver, owner, crew chief, crew member and race chaplain I know more than you may want to hear. I volunteered to sit in for the announcer, at RT66, while he had lunch. I was asked if I was interested in helping regularly. I told them I would gladly volunteer my time. They told me they had to pay me. That was 11 years ago. I would still pay them to do what I do.

Have you ever been "Volunteered" for something because of your expertise in a certain area?

I think that I have an expertise in working with people and getting them to work together as a team. As a result, I've been volunteered / nominated to work in leadership roles a number of times, including as a five-term PTA President, neighborhood associations, various committees in my school district, a national professional organization, the 1992 Democratic National Convention, many New York City Marathons and I'm sure there's more, but who cares? ... lol. I'd much rather talk about "National Toasted Marshmallow Day" because I've always wondered who was the first person to look at the gooey little pillow of fluff and say "Hey, let's put in on the end of this stick and roast it over that fire!"

National Neighborhood Day

Since I consider City-Data my "Cyber-Neighborhood", I wish you all a very happy National Neighborhood Day! Where's the party?

Don't ask me about our timeshare. My children are sure I must be selling these things. My husband says I enjoy planning the vacation more than going on the vacation.

Nobody ever wants me to do anything. I am more of a being than I am a doing.

The timeshare in Sapphire Valley (where we saw the ghost) had a bonfire and marshmallow roast on Friday night as one of their free activities. I loved the activities and waterfalls in that area but you would have to pay me money to get me back in the room we stayed in. Luckily there are two other named places there.

Of course, music is one of them. Just about anything, whether it pertains to my band or to another, music is my 2nd love! (My kids are 1st).

I'll take "songs from the 60's and 70's" for 200 please Alex.

I hope my husband is foppy instead of sloppy today!

Marshmellows is the only food I'll eat that has beenon fire. I haven't had a marshmellow in ages.
