Do you ever run into people and look in their eyes and think, "that person looks smart" or on the other hand run into other people who just look kind of dumb? It is something in their eyes, the way they look at you or their mannerisms.

An analogy might be "the look" of someone who looks extremely confident.

None of these people have said a word, it is just a vibe I pick up.

Agree or disagree?

Disagree. I have seen my fair share of people who appear intelligent until they open their mouths. And I have seen people who you would expect spent most of their time sitting in a corner drooling on themselves start to speak, and realize you are in the room with pure genius. Trying to determine someones intellect by their looks alone is impossible and foolish.

It takes more then just looking at someone to understand the intelligence of a person. Many times I get a vibe that is incorrect so I don’t put any value into my feelings about a stranger that I’ve met for the first time.

However let them speak or show me more about who they are and it’s almost a dead give away, that’s reading someone and requires more then just looking into their eyes.

Not that this is scientific in any way but I usually tend to notice a look of engagement when I meet someone who is intelligent. But, I did have a babysitter for my kids who I thought was dumb as a box of rocks and boy did she surprise me!! Got into a great university and is an editor at Conde Naste...not too shabby!!

Default Do smart or dumb people have a distinct look?

Never judge a book by it's cover.

No, actually. When I first met her I thought she was dumb. It became clear relatively quickly she was sharp as a tack. She was our babysitter for almost 4 years. She is like a little sister to me.
