First, our gas prices jump skyhigh because, we're told, the Middle East is our major source and we don't have enough domestic oil supplies of our own.

Second, Hurricane Ike sweeps through the Gulf of Mexico and threatens Texas and the gas prices jump again (more than 20 cents over a short 12-hour period) and one brand requests rationing ourselves.

So, which is the lie? Do we not have enough domestic oil so we're bound and gagged by the Middle East? Or do we have enough domestic oil so that a storm can cause an impact?

Or does it have nothing to do with oil supply, but instead an issue with the Texas refineries being threatened by Ike?

How is one supposed to guess how to budget if the truth isn't known? We made a big booboo yesterday. In the morning my other half bypassed the gas station on his way to work deciding to stop after work. The price had been at $3.60 for quite a while. However, he stopped last evening and discovered the price to be $3.81.

It's my guess that if someone on Wall Street sneezed and spread a cold around the district, that would have an impact on gas prices, too?

Lightbulb .

Between the oil industry CEOs and the politicians if their mouth is moving they are lying. As long as the nation remains dependant on oil as energy (this same political party) we will have issues like this. It merely reminds the voters that it’s time for something different in our energy needs.

As long as the lies are perpetuated, we all pay. Have you seen what oil money can do in Dubai. It's better than the Garden of Eden over there.

Our gas prices jumped nearly 60 cents in less than 4 hours yesterday afternoon..
The gas industry claimed that old capitalistic logo "supply and demand" and blamed it on the consumer for rushing to fill their tanks..
HELLLOOOO,..we were rushing before the hour was out and you raised the price again.
Our governor finally made an announcement(late in the evening) that the gougers would be fined..so this means that only our government prospers from price gouging in the end..So the gas stations immediately lowered their prices to $3.99.9 and we were supposed to be happy..we were only paying around 3.53 yesterday morning..

The increase in the past 2 days of 39% is not due to taxes.... Greed comes to mind.....

Now we're at $4.99 in TN.....
