Do you answer the phone at home if the name on Caller ID is not familiar.
Do you answer the phone at home if the name on Caller ID is not familiar?
It seems like every time the door bell rings or the phone rings there is someone wanting to sell me something. I am starting to not answer the door or the phone unless it is someone I know.
How about you?

I don't answer the door or phone unless I know the person, I noticed these phone solicitors are getting tricky, I get calls and they leave a message that it is an urgent matter and of course it's just someone wanting to loan me money at a death defying interest rate.

Nope. Not for a long time now. I have my answering machine set so I can hear peeps leave their message. Sometimes I dont pick up even if I do know who it is.
Also I have my phone in the cats name. If I pick up by mistake I just say he cant talk right now can I take a message.

No always check caller ID. Door's kind of hard to avoid as open inside is visible from door and bay window.

I hope nobody has a hang up posting replies about this topic but even if they do, I'll let them off the hook.
This topic is going to get wide coverage and it clicks. No, I'm not feeding you a line. It's got people talking. It's the Singular best topic I've ever seen in Sprint. The OP sure can Verizon shine and has certainly found a true calling and it connects. It rings true, although it does make you wonder what's Nextel?
But I'm sure they can go the distance, no matter what.

Boy, nilssson...what got you wired up??
Yes, I answer, even if I don't recognize the phone #. Can't stand having a phone ring and not answer it! But since we only have our cells, we don't get very many unsolicited calls like sales people and the rest. And we live in a gated community, so there are no religious groups wandering the streets or door to door sales people. It's wonderful!

No, I do not answer the phone if it is unfamiliar. Nor do I answer unsolicited calls, and private, unknown callers.

No, if the name doesn't show, or if I have no clue who that number belongs to, I WILL NOT answer. I'm very weary yes with a W not an L..with people calling trying to sell me something. Hellllllooooo if I want the product I'll call you, or GO TO the STORE. Then there is charitable donation calls...If I could afford it I'd send a check to what ever chrity of my chooseing... Oh myyyyyy I'm getting on my soapbox. Sorry.

No problem, SR. I think we all feel that way.
Years ago, long before cell phones and caller ID, the phone rang. "Mrs. XYZ, do you have a moment to talk to me about ABC?" I decided right then and there I was going to take a stand. I said, "No, I don't." and hung up! Why should we say yes when we don't mean it??
