That's what I would have said too. I remember in early December of 1995, I was walking around downtown Portland, Oregon, and it was very cold outside. I was walking by a coffee shop and I could smell that wonderful aroma of good coffee. I had heard about Espresso, Cappuccino and all of those coffee drinks, but I never tried them, so I decided to go in and order something that contained the name Espresso. About 10 minutes after I got done drinking that cup, I was so wired, I was about ready to scale the side of the 45-story US Bank Tower, which is the tallest building in downtown Portland!

We patronize our local coffee shop frequently as they get to know their patrons, the food is good & home made, the service is great, plus it's famous around here for the local residents to gather and chat.

I've been a mom and pop restaurant guy for many moons now. Love that coffee in the morning! I walk in (or waddle in), and the gals know what I want right off the get go. Java-the big yums! I call it 20/50 racing oil.

Nothing beats a small town ma-pa coffee shop. The atmosphere, the great coffee, the friends everyone knows everyone. But sadly we dont have one here, that I know of. Theyve all been taken over by Starbucks.

I go out of my way to avoid Starbuck. I try to support local, mom and pop shops much as possible.

I have discovered this little family owned cafe- Paris Coffee Shop. I like it because they serve really hot coffee. I mean the coffee stays hot while u finish eating your home style breakfast.
