They would teach us how to take care of ourselves. They walk the same path as Jesus and live The Word. They are the living testament of "What Would Jesus Do?"

Not that this is the thread for it, but I have a problem with this statement.

I somewhat agree with you.
I think, this statement would be ok, if I would be in the "religious forum", and I expected to hear something like that, or along those lines.
But, I just don't think, we are looking for the spiritual or religious aspect here to address the econimic crisis and the impact on the amish community.
Just my 2-cents worth.

That's kinda their opinion on how they believe they should live. Hands to work, heart to God. In this world but not of this world. Because of their beliefs, they don't rely on credit and live simply.

Only partially true , while they will notice our down fall , they on the other hand will not need to worry that even one of them will loose their home due to foreclosure! Really they will survive, and probably they may even florush, Just think you may have to park your car and do business with them. They do make fine wagons, both hard top and convertables!, and With the great 1 horse power plants that pull then , GREAT milage too!

I meant from a religious POV... that's why I stated this wasn't the thread for that.

Well, according to People Magazine, the Amish are the largest breeders of dogs for sale to pet stores (puppy mills). These holy people, who seem to look down their noses at everyone who is not Amish, don't seem to have a problem with being cruel to their animals. Maybe they're relying on sales to pet stores?

Oh my goodness, Alice mentions Jesus and people lose their panties. She was responding to a quote and Jesus happened to be part of her answer - SO WHAT. Everytime someone mentions Jesus or God, people get all angry.

Please don't talk about puppy mills anymore - UNLESS we move this to the Pet Forum
