MB2 glad you liked my take on this topic.

I recently posted on a local forum about this Amish store out in the country in the next county over. I was surprised at the many emails I got from my county wanting more info on the canning supplies there. I thought I was one of very few that still canned in my area. My kids know how to basically can whether they take that knowledge when they are on their own is to be seen. I swore I would never do it when growing up "having" to help my grandmas and mother.

I am glad I learned how to be able to do it for my family now though.
If we all got *real* about the things we honestly needed in our lives we would all be better off.
We need a roof over our heads, doesn't mean a McMansion, we need
food, doesn't mean eating out for the most part, we need
clothes, doesn't mean we have to have designer, we need
transportation, doesn't mean high car payments. When in reality all we have done is contribute to making others wealthy for selling us the things that appear to make our lives easier only they just require more time in the long run with their upkeep.
We all have to get to the step in our own lives where we say "hey I am not playing this game any longer". We can't take any of this with us when we die so why do we put so much energy into acquiring things instead of enjoying the things we have then be content with it?
To the poster saying it is all about the benjamins you are correct but are you ready for it not to be in your lifestyle? Are you ready to stop shopping for Abercrombie, American Eagle just because that is what everybody else is doing? I am not trying to attack you I am only pointing out we all fall into the benjamins loving world. What degree is an individual's choice see?
