Most of us have had friends who were either good or bad for us at some point. Some we keep, others we let go.

What characteristics do you think defines a true friend?

Someone who is dependable; they do what they say they'll do. Someone you can talk freely with and who can empathize with your situations without judging.

Loyal, amiable with a great sense of humor. If they make me laugh, they can have a lot of flaws.

I have one very important requirement. When I tell someone something, I am telling them and not expecting them to go tell someone else. When I get a new friend, I will test them out on this too. I tell them something that I have never told anyone else, it may or may not be true. If it comes back to me, I will be polite to that person, but I will never be their friend.

If I find the person is a gossip, I will make sure they tell something about me that nobody that knows me at all would ever believe. That usually gets rid of them! LOL My friends are tried and true.
