Cars from yesterday??? My fave was my mum and dads 1960 Black with red and white interior Chevrolet Impala. Loved the wings and rear tail lights. IMO that car looked classy. It was a hard top. If I could get my hands on one...ooohhh baby I'd be driving it.

I must have gotten knocked in the head back then, but I distinctly remember in 1975 Oohing & Ahhing over a AMC Pacer. I thought the bubble effect was sooo cool.....Geez, what was I ever thinking!?!

My dad owned a '59 Caddy. The options were endless: automatic headlight dimmer, adjustable suspension (he would raise the rear of the car at the drive-in so us kids in the back seat could see), AC, power windows, foot button for changing radio stations. I always thought that if he backed into a pedestrian the fins would impale them.

My dad owned a choice '53 Kaiser Manhattan (if they only had made a V-8 they'd still be in business...Kaiser was way ahead of his time), a '55 Bel Air wagon with the 265 Power Pack, a '56 Caddy Coupe deVille in outrageous pink and white, an absolutely spectacular '62 Olds Starfire with the 345 hp 394" , which he later gave to me. I owned the first '67 Firebird 400 in Phoenix, white with black vinyl top and red-ring Firestones.

Other favorites... '40 Ford coupe, '49 Caddy Sedanette, conv or coupe deville, '55-56 Chrysler 300 (the first muscle car), '54-62 Olds Starfire or 98, '57-71 Pontiacs of almost any model (especially '57 FI Bonneville, '61 348 hp 4spd Ventura, '64 GTO, and '67 Firebird 400, round taillight BMW 2002s...

When I got out of the service in "52", bought a 48 Buick Vert, then a 49 Merc 4 dr, then a 49 Cad vert all within one yrs time while going to college. The cad was nice with a redhead sitting beside me, later my future wife and 5 kids. What was I thinking of. Anyway later on had a new 57 Rambler wagon, then a 55 Cad 4dr, along with a 51 Cad cpe de ville same time (2nd car), then a 59 Cpe de Ville as a 3rd car. Needed the 4dr and 59 cpe de ville for business reasons, Cpe for sales contacts and the sedan to carry 3-5 employees to a job in different cities. I was always happy with the Caddys as they gave me 15-17 MPG with all the comforts. One thing I do miss is the floor button to change the radio station and the automatic high beam changer control on top of the dash. Oh well, can't win them all. Steve

I personally think that the '49 is the most beautiful Caddy in the post WW2 era. What about you?

Hello Rance; printed out a copy of the Fords...soft top and stake. What years are they?. I'm guessing maybe 1922-24. My dad was a mechanic for 40 yrs and in the 50's restored a 26 T Cpe that he was proud of and drove it in parades with my mom and they dressed in the clothes of the era. Would like to know the yr they were made as I wish to place the picture in a frame to hang on the wall. Thanks, Steve

The Roadster/Pickup is a 27...the last year they made model T's.

The stake bed "T" truck or "ton truck" is a 25...which was the only thing they had for hauling bricks, and that sort of thing. Believe it or not they even made a gravity type dump truck back in the day.

Not pictured is the 22 Centerdoor Sedan which was also recently sold. I miss them already...but they are quite common if one knows where to look...and range in price from 2 grand to 20 grand depending on how pretty you want. They are a very simple machine, parts are readily available, fun to drive and fun to work on. I'll most likely be buying another in the future.

My first car at 16 was a 1931 Ford Cpe with the good ole rumble seat in back. Had a lot of fun driving it to school. Primeing the fuel control...the throttle and spark control in the steering wheel hub was always a challenge. Learned to drive at 13. My dad was a mechanic/shop owner behind our house and some times I had to push (driving a car) to help him start a car he had did a repair job on...rings/connecting rod shims etc. Some of you old timers know what I'm talking about. Learned to drive a car with three pedals on the floor...one was NOT the gas pedal. Who can tell me what the 3rd pedal was for? Steve
