Anything interesting for Halloween night?
Strange Halloween,,, did you have any strange or funny kids come to your door? I had one teenager that came carrying only a “Toilet Plunger” that’s used for stopped up drains. He said he was Joe the Plumber and he needed candy because he was out of work. I liked the smaller little kids who enjoy getting into costumes and they don’t really know why they’re going door to door yet,, then they get older and you can have some trouble. Overall it was an interesting night for trick or treaters.
I've still got candy leftover. Always give out the "large bars" of good stuff, but for some reason we had fewer kids.

We had my father-in-law stay with my older son, while hubby and I took younger son out to a neighborhood where we know it is good trick-or-treating. Despite us having moved into a neighborhood in May, we had been told that our immediate area is not good. I am sure blocks down would've been, but I didn't want to take the chance.
I should've. The neighborhood we drove to was over 30 minutes away, and half hte people giving out candy last year, did not do so this year.
However, we found out when calling our house on the way home, that 4 kids stopped by. 4. and they shouldn't count. They were in their late teens early 20's!!! (hey, maybe the are the ones stealing my solar lights....).
Anyway, right before we pulled up, we were informed that 6 more regular kids came....hello- it was 9:30! I believe that's a little late!
I come from a very big city- Philadelphia, and Halloween was awesome there....we used to bring a wagon so that we could dump our candy out into it and refill.

Wow, almost no trick or treaters last night. I only got one group before I gave up and turned out the light.
Last year there were probably 50 or more. Earlier this month I noticed that there were very few houses decorated for Halloween. Last year I remember thinking how many homes were decorated on my street. Even though the economy has tanked, you would think that people could re-use the decorations they purchased last year.
You think people are feeling so poor that they decided in advance not to buy a few bags candy for children? That's what I call pathetic.

Pretty boring, not many kids showed, some inlaws brought theirs over and took most of the candy, they decided to help themselves to our dinner (pizza) I went to bed early because I'm working this weekend.

We had about 80 or so. Kinda slow - last year we had way over a 100 kids.
I saw some interesting costumes....My favorite was the ham/cheese sandwhich...
I noticed when walking my 2 lil guys around - not many homes were light up as last year.

Just a lot of interesting costumes... worn by adults who were out trick or treating!
I got some left-over candy, not too much.. anybody want it?
I can't eat it, so I'll give it to some homeless person. Maybe I'll sell it on E-bay!

I had a really big Chicken show up last night. Homemade costume and it was very cool. Even had a MP3 player or something in it because he had a recording of a chicken clucking and crowing playing. Must have been about 10 years old and that kid played it up so well. The funniest was a teenage boy who showed up dressed as a hooker. Push-up top, spike heels, and fishnet pantyhose. The whole works. I about fell over laughing. His friends were dressed up also, but he was center stage. They had musical instruments with them (snare drum, Trumpet, trombone, flute, clarinet, and a french horn) and were going around playing tunes and having a great time. They all had to be 16 or 17. It was nice to see them not really looking for candy, but just out having a great time and being a good example for the little ones who were out. I watched them go down the street, and they would help the little ones across the street, and up steps. Very nice.
Not a drop of candy left either. WE had a pile of kids stop by last night. So many I just sat on the front porch and didn't bother going back inside once they started coming. 357 kids in 75 minutes. It looked like a frigging movie on my street.

I see you buy the good stuff, too. If you were nearby, I'd come and get that candy. Mmm.

There must have been other things going on for the kids in neighborhoods or schools. I checked with a friend who lives several blocks away and mentioned that I missed seeing her kids this year. She told me that they had a block party in their cal-de-sac and kept the kids safer at home.
Like Mike,,, where to dump the candy now is the problem. I don’t want to throw it out but I also don’t want to eat it myself. Next year it’ll be different ~ I’m not spending money for lots of candy and no-shows. It’s not good for the kids anyway. I hope the schools and other organizations for kids will have things going on for them instead of allowing them to walk the streets in the dark.
Maybe next year I’ll buy apples or other fruit for the kids instead of candy. At least I can enjoy the leftovers then.
