Xyrus is on a distinguished road
Default How would you wan't your city/town to be?

I would like to live in a town with only nice big houses.
No ugly buildings downtown, I would wan't a very nice courthouse downtown, with small corner shops around the town square.
All the cafes downtown are small with 3 storys on top, like in european downtowns.
The town square has a lot of nice fountins around it.

Rent and taxes, low.
Gas price, low.
Foods and values in stores price, low.

New straight roads with nice sidewalks.
Plenty of lights in the town.
A nice park in the middle of it.
Plenty of stores, and houses (but not to many).

the town should be surrounded by tall mountins on top.
And there should be plenty of good bicycle paths that go up trough the mountins.

The weather should be at the lowest 10C in the winter, and in the summer highest 30C.

How would you wan't your town/city to be?

I think it's a great thread, but I don't think it's going to be so popular...

I would want it to be like any nostalgic town from the '50s. with some modern conveniences allowe. But no car newer than 1960 allowed.

Default How would you want your city/town to be?

Tropical: Heat and Vegetation. A white/pink sand beach. A rock hounds paradise, where you could go scouting for all sorts of gems, one easy way to make lots of money, sure would employ everyone!

I would love it the way it is now if all the people would move out.

I would want all the streets to weave gently to the right and then gently to the left, not completely straight. Straight roads tend to make people sleepy and they make the way look so much longer.

The gently curved road tends to keep people more alert and helps to prevent speeders.

The sidewalks should be separated from the road by at least 12 feet and those sidewalks would be 5 feet wide as a bare minimum. That will facilitate someone in a wheelchair with someone walking beside them and still having room for another person walking a dog them going the other way.

Six feet from the road there would be a 5' wide-bike lane which could also be used by people on scooters and skateboards.

Oh, and once I move to the town or location, the door closes behind me and a neon sign blinks, "No Vacancy." Yes, that's very selfish of me.

I hate to be a grammar nazi (only joking, I love it really ) but 'want' doesn't have an apostrophe in it.

My ideal town would resemble a Thomas Kincaid painting and be inhabited by Norman Rockwell individuals. It would have four glorious seasons, and the stream meandering through it would never flood. There would be several picturesque bridges crossing the stream, and a big sledding hill nearby. Business signs would be artistic, and billboards and political signs would be taboo. Walking/biking trails would be abundant, with benches and picnic tables scattered about. The countryside would contain rolling hills, with farmhouses, barns, and quaint businesses sprinkled here and there.

The community would be mostly self-sufficient. Greed would be non-existent. Neighbors would be friends. And family members would build each other and others up. Friendly competition would be the norm, with the idea of fair play accepted by all. Hard work would be rewarded, but put in proper perspective. A helping hand would be extended to all who are truly in need. Wisdom, love, generosity, and grace would rule the day.

Ever see the movie "I Am Legend" and the scenes of NYC after the plague? Yeah, I want my town to be NOTHING like that!!

I reality though, I have always pictured my perfect little town to be cozy, with Mom and Pop stores, no big boxes or fast food. No big rambling apartment complexes or either really high end neighborhoods or really poor neighborhoods. A kind of town where people mind their own business, but are willing to help out at the first sign somebody needs it. Where teenagers still stop and help an elderly person with their bags coming out of a store, and it isn't looked on as unusual. When you walk into the bowling ally and walk up to the counter they already have out the right shoe sizes for your entire family without asking. In other words, I wouldn't change a thing in the town I live in right now. This is my perfect fit for a town.
