Puberty sucks because I was the first male in my school to go through puberty, and all the guys in the locker room made fun of me for having hair on my legs! LOL! (I could have pulled down my boxers and shut them up immediately by the "other" things that had grown besides leg hair, but I didn't want to show off!)

It was horrible for me. I was 11 years old and I went to school one day and I had a stain in my back of my pants (I guess I was wearing light colored pants). My teacher came up and noticed it and said something to me. Then I found out it was my "period". What an embarrasing way to know you started your menstrual cycle!!!
I had also gained about 20lbs. that year too!! So horrible. I went up to a size 13-14 and stayed there until I was 13. I lost it all by 13 and was down to a size 4. I'm now a size 7 and staying there.
But puberty was hard on me, that's for sure!!...

I was talking to my adult son about this yesterday. I have one 13 and one 10. They are both such good kids, great kids, really. My teenager is becoming defiant, which is normal and healthy. But in such tame ways. I hope I am better at handling it than I was with my oldest son- I took his defiance so personally and every bump was the end of the world to me. He turned out fine, though, in spite of having mommy dearest to contend with for a while.
I was an awful teen and don't know how I pulled through without any lasting damage- legal or physical. But even at my ripe old age, I can remember feeling so alone and crappy inside as a teen. It's a tough time and one where so many just have to learn firsthand about things.
The saying "That which doesn't kill us makes us stronger" must have been penned with teenagers in mind. Or teenagers AND parents of teens!

I don't remember ever going through puberty. Geeze I wonder if I have? I do remember my voice changed a tad in 8th grade. I was pretty good at hitting those high notes in the shower, and now I can't. That must be a sign right?

I was 10 . 10 years without a period is not fair! My friends thought it was cool though. Yeah, they didn't get theirs for at least 3 more years. My 9 year old is showing signs of approaching puberty. For him it is exciting because we were told his ADHD has a slight chance of going away when his body chemicals balance out. We are crossing our fingers so hard! My 15 year old is a dream going through puberty. We have a very open relationship so he is able to talk to me about any issues that come up. It is just weird how harry they get!
