Thank you to my youngest son who served six years in the United States Navy as a nuclear tech aboard the USS Enterprise ... and to the hundreds of thousands of others who serve, those who have served, and those who have sacrified their lives in defense of our country and our freedom.
I'm proudly married to a Jarhead and a proud momma to a Staff Sgt in the
82nd Airborne!
My thanks to them and EVERY single person that is serving now and those that served in the past.
I also want to thank their family members because they couldn't have done it without you!
I considered it a privlidge to serve my country from 1965-1969. I have occasion to spend time at the VA hospital once a month or so and everyone I talk to there feels the same way. On behalf of those I served with, You're Welcome. It was an honor to be considered worthy to wear the uniform.
I guess I gave the wrong impression. I don't go to visit vets. I go to the hospital and related clinics for health care. I'm a talker and strike up a conversation with others waiting.
Thank You Veterans! And, thank you for this thread.
I began today with a brisk walk through our small town, and paused at our local cemetery to pay respect to those who've served to preserve our freedom. The older tombstones were not clearly legible, and I strained to read the names and dates in the early morning light. It was a proud, but also a sad time for me, seeing so many graves with small American Flags in place. Our town has events scheduled at local VFW and American Legion Halls, as well as at cemeteries. I am dedicating my day to all who've served, and are currently serving, our country. Thank a Veteran today!
NWV, thanks for posting the pic of the Scouts - how wonderful for them and those they came to honor.
I bow to all who have served - deepest thanks.
