I wouldn't want to live across from : County dump/landfill, Jail, School, Shopping center/Mall, Car Dealer.
I wouldn't mind living across from a farm (prefer crop type), a forest or open field
I am a member of my Vol. Fire Dept. so living close(1/4 of a mile now) to that is not a big deal but would prefer not right across the street.

What wouldn't you want to live across the street from?
I'm surprised nobody mentioned me... and I know Aksarben is very fortunate that he lives about 4 miles from me.

I'm also sure Livewire would mention a couple of places in particular that I would not want to be across from, because "I'd spend my whole day over there".... (I'm only kidding)

Actually, my list is probably as infinite as anybody else's. I wouldn't want to live across from anything that will:
1) Create problems for me and everyone else in the neighborhood, where police gets called all the time for various reasons
2) Lower the value of the property

This brings up a good "Hmmmm" moment.

About a year ago, I exercised my rights per Megan's law and looked up registered sex offenders in my area. I found one that lived within 2 miles of my home. So, while on my way to run errands one day, I decided to drive by the house to get a visual of exactly where it was (no harm intended, wasn't gonna confront anyone, etc.). The house ended up being the trashiest house in that part of the neighborhood (which I thought ironic... nothing like trying to blend in). But I also noticed the house directly next door was for sale.

I asked our real estate friend if there was a "law" like telling me if someone died in the house (which wouldn't bother me, 'cuz like you, the dead don't worry me), and inform potential buyers that a registered sex offender lives next door. To which she said, "No. That's up to the buyer to get that information on their own."

Now I know I do my research well when looking at buying big ticket items and things, but not every one does. It just left me feeling kinda like that a family with kids, never thinking to look into that kind of thing, might buy that house and move in.

Sorry for going off topic.

Amusement park and stuff would be bad and good. At least there's some positives (house might sell for more than somewhere else, no parking problems for the park, etc.). But there are a couple places I wouldn't want to be by and can't think of any positives.

1. A slaughter house for animals (the smell... ew... )
2. A fish packing plant (again, the smell... too much like the ex... KIDDING).

I have 50 acres of very isolated land for sale. Any of you all interested?

No brothels, public housing, schools, churches, 7-11's, graveyards, in-laws, outlaws, etc......

Never mind. I don't want to live next to any of those things either so I'm going to keep it.

Me. I wouldn't put up with the grief I give anyone who won't take care of their yard, disturb the neighborhood, control their kids, etc. Of course I don't fall into those categories, so maybe I'd be an okay neighbor for me.

I'd take trains a couple of blocks away. Fell asleep almost every night listening to trains until we moved when I was 12.

A bar, I have no tolerance for drunks.
Skateboard park
Slaughterhouses don't smell so much anymore. It's (some of) the people that work there...
Race car driver. There's one about 6 blocks from here and we know when he works on his cars.
Church
School
Shelter (maybe, depends on how well it's run)
People of religion who feel the need to convert everyone else. They wouldn't care much for me.

Pretty much all of the above, although I wouldn't mind a church. One of the main things that came to mind is a dog kennel! Barking dogs drive me up the wall !

Now see, I live right by a school and it isn't a bother at all. I can stand by the back fence and hit the school with a ball if I wanted to. Kids walk by for about 15 minutes during the morning, the all is quiet until they let out in the afternoon at which time they walk back by for 15 or 20 minutes going home. Not a soul around all Summer and my kids think the playgrounds right in the backyard almost is the coolest. No parties at night because they are all gone, nobody around after 4 PM usually. If it wasn't for the large brick building out there, you wouldn't even know it is there.

I REALLY wouldn't want to live across the street from a pig farm. Uncle had one and that is close enough for me. Did live across the street from a drug dealer once, what a pain that was. Wouldn't want to do that again, next one may shoot back instead of moving .
