This happened last year too, in NC. Concord Mills Mall, only the trampled people (there were more than one) all lived.
People truly forget the entire meaning of Christmas. However, the retailers sometimes are just as bad to blame. Advertise a great price on a product then only have 20 of them for sale? That's what causes this kind of behaviour from the idiots that go to these openings of stores at 5 am etc.

What could possibly be worth trampling another human being to death?

They've got to have enough video to see who was responsible, and they can identify the ones who paid with a credit card or check with the video from the registers.
The family of the dead man should sue the **** out of the people responsible for his death.

I hate crowds. I hate shopping in crowds. And you couldnt get me out there on the busiest day like this if everything was free....in fact, if it were, all the more reason to stay home, so as to not get squished.
Unbelievable.

I just heard this on the news. I would think all stores not just Walmart would take safety measures with shoppers entering the stores entrances to prevent such a horrible tragedy. Obviously having huge crowds storm the entrance way in such an unruly manner would have to stop. Taking serious crowd control measures would need to be put in place. Actually Walmart or any store should have been aware that something so tragic could and has happened before with large crowds. For a crowd to have actually trampled this person to death makes me wonder about the type people storming that entrance way. We are not talking about thousands trying to storm the entrance into a huge sports stadium, it was nothing more than an entrance way at Walmart. The whole thing is horrible.

I agree, Im not that fond of lawyers, but in this case I hope there is an excellent one for that poor employees family. If ever there was a case for a lawsuit it is this one.

Yes some of the behavior of people going to these sales is a joke. There were people camped out in tents near some of the stores here in Portland. They were waiting for all the stores that were opening early for all thier holiday sales, and they want to be the first ones in the stores.

I agree too. I think Walmart should be held reponsible along with all the psycho's that trampled the person. What a legacy to leave -"oh, at Christmas one year, I trampled a person to death, just to get some cheap plastic crap". I find myself disliking people more and more everyday...I know that's wrong, but when I hear this kind of stuff it makes me feel that way.

Options for the store of a CRIME Scene

I’m in agreement with you on this one. The authorities should have been called and held “everyone” inside the store until they identified those who were responsible for the break in and death of the employee. This was a “crime scene” when the doors were broken down.
I also find fault with Walmart in failure to have adequate security to control the mob.
I’ve been to other retail stores ten years ago that had the Friday specials on sale. Those who came early had to wait in line and before the doors opened a store manager talked with those in line asking what sale item they wanted ~ they were then given a certificate to purchase that item or items. Only 30-40 people were allowed to enter every 5 minutes or so, thus the store took action to control the mob of customers in line before a problem occurred. I think that was at Best Buy that I was at, but I sure appreciated the control – even though I was about a hundred customers behind the first one, I got the certificate or coupon for the sale item I wanted.
