Just curious
Does anybody know a "santa?"
My uncle is a Santa in Omaha, and yes his beard is real. He has real fun with it. He is retired now, but he used to be a trucker. He would wear a red shirt and he would love to see the kids reaction when they drove by and saw him. The mouth wide open excited look that Santa was in that truck. He used to carry candy canes all the time to give to kids, when they suspected he was Santa. He has stopped that though because he doesn't want someone to get the wrong idea that he is trying to entice kids. But he still enjoys being Santa, and now he made some business cards and whenever they travel over the holidays he will leave a card with wherever they stopped that says "Santa was here."

My Dad
When we were youngsters, my dad (who is a very jolly fellow) would do the Santa honors.
He was so good that we, his own children, didn't know it was him.
Then when we figured it out, we were very popular because everybody knew that my dad was Santa.

I don't know a Santa but there is a man I've seen about town around Christmas with a long white beard dressed in a red shirt and he always brings a smile to my face.
As a child I swore the real Santa was a Macys in Herold Square, all the other Santas were his helpers.

What fun the Santa's must have this time of year! How sad a guy can't give candy canes to kids! - but I understand why he stopped - the cards are a great idea.
The Macy's Santa is the real Santa!

How sad that those who enjoy being a Santa can’t because of issues these days. It’s understandable however. We need to protect our kids. However we lose something special in our society ~ these are not the days that were.

I agree. We have definately lost something that was very important in our world...trust!
We had a neighbor who fit the bill perfectly. He dressed up as Santa for us and our friends that we had come over to our home. He was amazing and yes, his beard was real!! The kids were all in awe...he even made the older ones think twice about the reality of Santa. My kids had no clue it was our neighbor either. Hmmmm...maybe he really was Santa!!??

My Mother in law also plays Santa, for 2 families, who live (cross country) about 15 miles from "Mom".....
several years ago, Santa took a backroad, that had NOT been opened, after a recent blizzard..........needless to say, she required assistance. The family, on the recieving end rescued Santa, so the gifts were delivered, and the next day, Santa's sons retrieved her car. It took 2 tractors, and several hours of digging. Her boyz never let her forget, that her Caddy is NOT a sleigh!

We used to have an ole boy in my hometown who would put on the suit around the first week of september and wear it till after the holiday. Always had his pockets full of candy or pennies to hand out. We all pretty much figured it out who he was by his pick up but we didn't care. Heck of a guy.

Ya gotta love small town life! I remember telling my daughter that she better come in the door telling me about any incidents because there was a good chance I already knew.
